blessed are the fires
lain upon her corpse
ashes as her lips
ashes as her tongue
the devil's pushed away
in this burning heretic
tell the masses
satan reigns no more
place her body in the flames
nail her to the timbers
lay bare all her skin
burning in repentance
burning into life
ashes as her lips
ashes as her tongue
oh, god, what a way
shown the light
that there's a true god
and that forgiveness will be made
in fires on your bodies
heretics sent to the heavens up in flames
descending on the godless lands
to burn the devil
once again they all must burn
to earn a second chance
it's about burning witches

do you really consider the burning of human beings to be a "christian" act

Not a fan of this. Mainly because burning, and death metal in general are pretty un-Christ like, it seems.

I think he means that his lyrics use Chrsitianity as a theme (or even that the song was anti-Christian), hence why he put Christian in quotation marks. I'm sure we can get past this misnomer and critique his writing regardless.
I think it's rather cliche, personally.

Nice spelling of extremist, too.
I'm not really bothered about whether its a christian idea etc, that doesn't matter, the real problem is the imagery overload.
Everything seems like imagery, and it takes it until the last line for you to imbue it with a relevant point, but by then it seems too late.
Try working in the idea from the last line (misconstrued redmeption?) into the rest of the piece. If it is there already, then it doesn't come through enough and it makes the imagery seem wuite hollow.
Granted, the imagery is a little cliche (all burning imagery - ashes fire etc) but it wouldn't be so bad if it had a little more weight behind it.

So it's a generic death metal song? YES, mission accomplished!
Also, I didn't have much to work with, as I wrote the lyrics based on the "words" I used when we recorded, as I recorded vocals before writing any lyrics because I was drunk: http://www.myspace.com/paraphiliasoontochange
