Here's the deal. Pop punk is known for their cover songs. If you so do wish, you can discuss your favorites and possibly swap some ones that spark your interest.

Some of ones that come to mind for me...

The Offspring - Totalimmortal
The Ataris - I Remember You
AFI - My Michelle
Green Day - Outsider

Good bands don't do covers.

But I'm so detached from a lot of older, popular music that I probably don't even recognize it when bands do covers.

Like I had no idea that Gob - Paint It Black was a cover until my sister told me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zo6caNX1e84

Blink-182 did it. Check out the Vagrant Records "Five Years on the Street" I believe it's called. It's a decent cover...Mark sings it.

and majority of Me First & The Gimme Gimme's songs are sick, especially when they use intros from old punk bands (They used Astro Zombies for the intro to On The Road Again and a lot of others...I think it was on one or two songs per album when they did this)

Suicide Machines - It's The End Of The World As We Know It - REM

Smoking Popes - Pure Imagination (Charlie & The Chocolate Factory original movie)

Ben Folds - Tiny Dancer (Elton John)

There's tons of good covers around.

Rofl. Giles can do Freddie Mercury so well.

Definitely, he sounded dead on. I actually kind of didnt like their cover album since the songs sounded too much like the originals, the band didnt put any spin on them. It sounded less like covers and more like the original song done by somebody really good at karaoke.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes do some good covers.

Technically, you could say the latter if you are referring to each member in his main band, but it would be a very broad statement. I love Spike's voice though. I wish he sang more songs for Swingin' Utters.

Anything Richard Cheese does is usually pretty funny. But he did a Killers song that sucked. I love the intro he does making fun of U2 on Sunday Bloody Sunday (making fun of Bono's Spanish skills in Vertigo) and his cover of We Are The World or w/e.

The fact you've never heard Aha's "Take on Me" makes me think your entire life is a lie.

That's probably THE best thing to come out of the 80s. No lie.

Best song ever.

My old bands cover of "Stop the World" was good.

But in all seriousness I also really like the Bob Dylan cover by Straylight Run.

And all of the live covers that Jack's Mannequin does are awesome. "Changes" by David Bowie and "American Girl" by Tom Petty being my favorites.
