After smokin' with a friend a few weeks ago and listening to Made In Japan, The Mule completly grabbed me by the balls and simply wouldn't let go. Since then I've been on a search for great solos, but can't really come up with that good of a list. Anything along the lines of Moby Dick or Toad would be great (or even 10+ min), but would also be interested in shorter stuff.
Don't care all to much about genres.
What are some of your favourites?

Yeah most people hate drum solos, but being a drummer myself I love 'em....the longer the better.
You mentioned Toad and Moby Dick. Couple of other ones include Innagaddadavida by Iron Butterfly and Rat Salad by Sabbath. A few shorter ones include The End by The Beatles and there's even a minute long one in Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull.
Most of the long solos are live, so I'm not familiar with many live songs, but those are the studio tracks that have 'em. Also check out Buddy Rich.

I'm not huge on solos of any kind, but this is pretty cool. It's Stevie Wonder performing a pretty badass drum solo.

i play drums and i generally hate long pointless drum solos because i'd say the large majority of drummers don't know how to solo at all

Rock/metal drum solos are normally bad.
But Um, the end of the grudge has some really neat phrasing.

Drum solos are generally pretty boring and pointless. I guess the drum solo from YYZ on Exit...Stage Left is pretty good.

Ian Paice also does a drum cover of the Rolling Stones' Paint It Black on some live album. Pretty awesome.

thats a pretty subjective statement.
Music is a subjective thing.
Flo Mounier's solos, while being very spastic and poorly arranged, are very fun to watch.

Nothing like being at a live show and having a band rip up some crazy drum solos or guitar shred battles in between songs. Just adds to the atmosphere.

Coming from a drummer, I dont really like solos because they can be too dry and boring, especially if it is all chops. I like groove AND chops in my solos, so that excludes a lot of drummers. Peart's solos are solos that I enjoy though.
Jarzombek's "School" is a very awesome solo.
drum solos are like sneezes, you know they are coming but can't do anything about it

I'm not big on drum solos, I like Moby Dick for about 5min then I get bored. I like alot of Bill Ward's solos though, I havn't hear Rat Salad but the stuff he does live is actually quite creative and dont go for too long. Also the solo Cozy Powell does on that Live At Munich, Rainbow DVD is interesting cos he does it to a classical piece.

only if you knew what you were talking about. The song itself isn't even 20 minutes long. The drum solo itself is about 3. Though I admit it is kind of boring (at least the studio version).

My all-time favorite drummer is Dave Lombardo. These links are him at the Modern Drummer festival.

Godsmack's Batalla De Los Tambores is one of my personal favorites, it's their singer and drummer doing a drum duel for ten minutes. And despite how repetitive and simple Godsmack's music is, they can both play drums really well.

On a serious note, has anyone actually managed to listen through the whole of the above solo without getting very bored. I know I've never actually finished the track, although I got to 7 minutes once, then just switched it off. Mind you, it's the Melvins, so I'll forgive them.
