Haven't heard the new album, mind uploading? I love Planet X, one of the few prog bands I enjoy.

Details. I didn't mind their older stuff.

They still have the same signature sound. I thought Derek would have lost it with all the projects he's done from then until now.

It's very, very complex. Just like old times. Lots of melody, I'm not all the way through the album yet but so far it is definately more listenable than Moonbabies. Yes, more listenable. I'll get back with more info.

Pretty much if you liked Moonbabies you will like this.

And I've decided that if you didn't like Moonbabies, you probably won't like this either. I don't stand by my 'more listenable' comment anymore.

edit:

Alright, I've listened to the whole album through now. Is it completely insanely mind blowing? Well yes, it's Planet X. But you couldn't really expect them to be even more technical than Moonbabies. I'm not saying it isn't as technical and insane as Moonbabies because it is. It's very solid. And it has just as many crazy melodic solos that make your pants wet. But having been the first listen, I need another to let everything sink in.
Don't be expecting a progression from their previous work as far as improving their sound (I don't know if that's possible unless you're going for more listenable), the two albums go hand in hand pretty well, there isn't too much change.
With that though, you can definately tell the difference between Moonbabies' songs and Quantum's, among Planet X fans at least, I don't know about to virgin ears.

I didn't realize this was even close to coming out yet. Who did they end up getting to replace MacAlpine? Last I heard it was Alan Holdsworth or something.

Holdsworth appears on two tracks, and Brett Garsed appears on the rest
