View Full Version : Music To Make Your Summer Endless

Following on the success of the Gentlemen Losers thread, I've decided to make this a routine.
This time the band is Natsumen, who, briefly put, is a Japanese Noise Rock band, though Jazz Rock could just as easily be coined unto them. Basically, Natsumen is everything you love about Rock, Noise Rock, Japanese Rock, Jazz, Big Band, Swing, and a myriad of other genres, but a billion times better than your favorite group from the genre. With searing and infectious (and I emphasize the word infectious) horn melodies, clean and funky guitars, playful (yet emotional when called for) pianos, and an insatiable knack for groove and rhythm, Natsumen is guaranteed to make the toes tap and the corners of mouths lift to make a smile. Natsumen perfectly blend all the elements that make Noise Rock the bouncy and energetic music it is, while being able to forego the extreme Noise-yness that some bands of the genre take to the extreme. They are even able to bring things down to a very calming and slow pace, while keeping the same fun spirit intact. In short, hear them, and be happy.
I've got their album Never Wear Out Your Summer uploaded to Mediafire, and I've tested it and made sure it works this time, so just post your email once again if you want it. If for some reason it shits out like the last one did, I'll reupload it (just like last time).
Can't find any good interviews or biographies in English, so this excerpt from prog archives will do for my quote:
You’ll notice a Summer motif with their name, record names and track titles. And indeed their music has a fun, optimistic and overall “sunny” attitude that fits this recurrent Summer ideal.
This is highly recommended to fans of intense jazz-rock and as PA’s Jazz-Rock specialist put’s it: Nu.Jazz.

I'm always sceptical about anything noise rock related, yet this does intrigue me.

It's the least noisiest noise rock band you'll ever hear. No fears. Really, Jazz Rock is probably just as good of a label. In fact, I'll put that in my description, so it doesn't scare off other noise haters. Because it really is very accessible.
And sent.

That's your own fault, you're really missing out. And, just to be spiteful, I wouldn't want to listen to any music that wasn't noise. I mean, I like silence as much as the next person, but I prefer my music to have noise in it.
Yeah, they're also Asian, so you can expect the obligatory ridiculous song titles and whatnot. I took all the stupid xxx stuff off of my version, so nobody should have to deal with it.
The power of noise is massive.

My organizational impulses made me put the XXX! back into it though.

Oh believe me I'm the biggest music organization freak in the world, just look at the way I have my folder set up and whatnot. Every single bit of music I have is neatly placed into the album folders like that, which are neatly placed in band folders. But I just had to take the xxx out, my regularity impulses made me.

This is really solid ****, wow. Not really noise though, thankfully. Are parts (or all) of this live, or is the crowd at the end of Pills To Kill Ma August added in post-production?

The noise doesn't become too strong until near the end of the album.
And it's not a live album, so I'd assume they're just added in, but, they are Japanese, so who the **** really knows?

Well it started off sounding like Noise but yeah, not so much until the very end.

Nine Buddhas' Things is pretty much straightfoward Noise, but the rest is only Noise styled. It's too jazzy to be pure Noise, but it's too noisy to be pure Jazz. They strike a perfect balance between the two, all with a nice Rock coating.
