5/18/07

Adopted main page format for most of the main genres. Please note that the algorithm is not yet complete. Currently it grabs the most recent reviews in that genre by staff and approved reviewers. Previously I just did it by release date, but some reviews were coming up that shouldn't have been 'featured'. We'll see if this system works. The old display was clunky and didn't really reward approved reviewers.

- Fixed the problem with the search not working on genre pages
- Fixed some of the nav buttons not working on sub pages

- Updated the look of the login and the registration pages slightly
- Updated light forum skin
- Re-organized the top-level navigation. 'New Music' on genre pages now goes directly to that genre.

- As per popular request, you can now simply provide the URL of a jpg file to add an album image to the archives.
- Modified the way the search works. Now you will only be automatically directed to the band page on an exact match (excluding case). All other returns will now give you a list of results. Also added a way to add a new band on the search returns screen, and updated the look.
- Cleaned up the look on the review and album submission pages
- The system now waits longer to log you out (1-2 hours added to timeout)
- The Next/Previous buttons etc for new posts on index/genre pages now don't bump you to the top of the page.

July 27

- Staff reviews were automatically pushed to the bottom of the list if other reviews had votes. This is now fixed.
- Front page will no longer say: 0 reviews today early in the morning
- Server maintenance done.
- Digging status added to main page

- A bug with the activation codes has been fixed
- Sputnik now tracks the date you rate albums, allowing us to do some interesting stuff later on. (Sort by most recent ratings, ratings by year, etc)

- When mods approve a new review in the queue, the publishing date is now reset to the approval time. Previously, newly approved reviews were buried back several days.
- On the reviews page, in the other reviews section, staff is now appended to the names of staff reviewers, and an asterisk is added to the names of contributing reviewers. Real names are also used here, if the user has enabled them.

- Made visual changes to the 'new music' page to display more albums
- Numerous updates to the 'top albums' page:

Name changed to 'charts' (temporary experiment)
Visual look + Navigation updated
Albums with a rating lower than 3 are no longer displayed
Form now preserves year and genre as you navigate

- Certain member's posts were duplicated in the comments section. This is now fixed
- Minor changes to the main page
- The new music page now displays more albums... previously an album only appeared if it had more than 1 vote, now some with only 1 vote appear, if a staff member has that vote.

Modified the top albums

- For "all time" rankings, 20 votes are required (prev 10)
- For "all genres" per year 15 votes are required (prev 10)
- For genres, 12 votes now required (prev 10)
- 2007 albums rankings now appear on the album page
