When people think that any band that uses lyrics with words that have more than three syllables sound like P!ATD?
Discuss musical ignorances of those around you that grate your nerves.

what really gets on my nerves is when shops miscategorize cds for example: fall out boy in the metal section. o.O

Yes.
That and P!ATD.
I also dislike basically everything musically that people these days do. A good 88% of the kids in my school listen to R&B/Hip-Hop etc. and think that they're black. They literally do. They go about calling one another "brother" "dawg" and "nigga'". I feel like I'm in a place full of socially inept fools.

It really annoys me when pseudo-enlightened morons think less of someone else because that person doesn't conform to their societal expectations and ideals. In reality, if everyone around those morons listened to the exact same music or had the exact same opinions, that person wouldn't feel special anymore, and a big portion of someone's outward music tastes are based on feeling special and being different.
And if 88% or people aren't like you, then you're the socially inept fool.\
And yes, I call my irish friend a chinky bastard. And yes, that means that we think we're asian. Plus, we listen to Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I'm surprised we don't just put tape on our eyebrows to make our eyes smaller!
hey, you're not cory!

I'd say I'm not soccially inept. I listen to Oasis and Coldplay. I listen to tons of Mainstream bands. I just don't praise retarded Hip-Hop artists as gods. It'd be different if the music meant something.

You're socially inept because you seem to think that musical tastes is a judge for how socially adept you are.
Don't think your crappy art is better or more meaningful than their crappy art.

Zeppelin and ACDC are the worst . This used to bother me, but not so much anymore. If they dig classic rock or wearing band tshirts, props to them. I came to realize it's just a shirt and it doesn't bother me at all anymore.

So if a band has a t-shirt sold at K-Mart they suck? Or no one actually likes the band, they just want people to think they like them?
Is that what you guys were trying to get across, or did I misunderstand?

Yeah, but The Academy Is DOES sound like Panic.
Don't get me wrong, I like panic, but every single band on Fueled By Raman currently sounds exactly the same.

I think they mean that the wearers have the shirts just to be TOTALLY HIPZZZ and make it look like they like classic rock.
I hate when people think classic rock is better than everything just because its older. They dont realize youre allowed to respect something and not like it. It cant dig any classic rock, but its not like I dont appreciate it.
And then because they think classic rock is automatically better they dont make an effort to listen to anything else because 'ITS THAT NEW EMO GARBAGE LOLZ VAN HALEN 4 LYFE!!'. These are also the same people that turned 13 and didnt stop saying 'you cant spell crap without rap'.

these have nothing to do with cultural confusion they're commonly used terms that aren't restricted to those naturally inclined to ebonics
everyone i know talks the way you describe and listens to the music you seem to hate and none of us think we're black most of us own mirrors tbh
which brings me to what annoys me most: people who think it's cool to hate social norms because they can't personally identify with the social group they unfairly hate

I thought those kind of idiots only existed in America...my roomate at uni was like that and it annoyed the hell out of me...I tried not to let it show tho :/
Anyway, I didn't realise so many people were against classic rock in this forum. I mean, I'm not an ardent follower of it but I like to give it a listen every now and again. What don't you guys like about it? Also, just out of curiosity, which bands don't you guys like?

You guys got me all wrong. Cob pretty much spelled it out. I don't have a problem with Zeppelin and Van Halen and all those classic rock bands. I don't really dig them, but I don't have anything against them. What I'm saying is back in middle school, when I thought I was a big music guy (which I'm not) and liked classic rock, I used to get annoyed by people who would buy those shirts just to look cool, because I felt like they were wearing shirts of bands that I liked just because it would make them look better. I guess you could call it territorial feelings. At some point or another almost every young music fan goes through it. I was one of the first people in our grade to discover something, so I didn't want others to jump on the bandwagon. Then it turned into what Cob said about people thinking "classic rock is the only way to rock".
Now that I'm a few years older, it doesn't bother me.
hey, you're not cory!

I heart classic rawk. \m/
The Who are my favorite band more or less.
Bowie, Queen and The Doors are right behind them.
I listen to more old stuff these days than I do newer music. Except for Santi.
Thats not to say I don't like new stuff anymore, I'm just growing out of it a bit I guess.
Indeed, Cob has it perfectly. I feel the same way about bands like The Beatles; hell yes I respect them but to be honest it just ain't my thing.
People who throw the label "emo" around too much get to me too. Someone was having a go at me for listening to Refused yesterday and called them emo. I just laughed in his face. Cunt.

I can see you are skilled in the art of hyperbole.
Omgz, two different bands don't literally have the same singer? And I'm pretty sure they all use guitars drums and basses.
I'm talking about outside the generally accepted parameters of pop-punk. Fueled By Raman is all the same brand of dance-beat-power-pop-fall-out-boy-clone music that has pretty much the exact same feel.
Very little sets the bands apart.

Panic lean towards a more electronica, the singers voice is deeper and is run through a smoother filter, he also has a slight american accent. Panics music is also faster with more emphasis on string melodies instead of chords. Panic also uses a wider range of instruments.
TAC is generally more of a pop-rock band with a higher, edgier voice sung over chords. The songs vary from slow to fast and the filters used in producing their CDs are not synthesized near as much.
Just because you're wrong doesn't mean you have to be a fag about it.

Panic's singer is not deeper or higher than TAC's vocalist. They're really similar.
An american accent? You mean...no accent? The way the singer pronounces words is irrelevant.
And not really about that stringed melodies part.
Using minimal overdubbed instruments on the studio version of a song does not constitute using a wider range of instruments.
TAC is generally more of a pop-rock band with a higher, edgier voice sung over chords. The songs vary from slow to fast and the filters used in producing their CDs are not synthesized near as much.
You can list as many minute and irrelevant details as you want, it doesn't change the fact the bands have the same feel and a very similar style.
"But Jon, Panic's singer has black, medium length hair! TAC's singer's hair is long a blonde! The bands can't be the same!"
Who cares? Little things like putting a slightly grittier filter over the vocalist's voice in post production to create the illusion of variety doesn't mean that they bands aren't the same. Sure, Panic is dancier, and TAC is a BIT more rock oriented. Still the same damn thing.
It's awesome that you like Fueled By Ramen. Panic is tons of fun, I love This Providence, and I like Fall Out Boy's first album a whole bunch. But don't pretend the bands that you like are better than they actually are just because you like them. The bands on Fueled By Raman (with the exception of Lifetime and Gym Class Heroes) are overly similar. Like they're trying to feed us the band with a new coat of paint every couple of months they sign a new band.
Just because you're wrong doesn't mean you have to be a fag about it.
That's a really terrible way of telling someone not to be a jerk.
