It can work, but you have to be willing to engage.
And it certainly won't help everyone.

In order for it to work at all, you must be receptive and willing.

yeah what everyone else had said, you really need to want it to work in order for it to actually do some good, just relax, and try to let the therapy do its job

Cognitive behavioural therapy has been proven to work through years of research and practice.

yes
It should work, therapists normally know their stuf and it's not like your condition is rare
that's good advice though, for sure.

lol, shrinks
they have overdiagnosed America for ages now and are the root problem of a disfunctional country
i guess in some cases, they can do what family and friends cant
it seems easier for people to speak to a stranger about issues you wouldnt want family or friends to know about, so, i do hope you sort out your problems though

Depends on the person and the condition. If you have been sent for cognative behavioral therapy then the doctor will obviousley think that it will help you. Stick with it, you have only been once.
Cant hurt any way.

My docter says it has been, but the voices in my head say he's lying
haha there's no cure for schizophrenia
yes it really does
well actually the meds they perscribed work for me better, but I think some of it depends on the way your mind works

2 visits in and you've already convinced yourself it isn't going to work?
If you keep this mindset you can bet your *** it won't.

Although it sounds like you've got it pretty bad, social anxiety isn't a serious mental disorder. Just put faith into your doctor, and yourself... start thinking rationally. The physiological effects of being socially anxious aren't that harmful unless you're thinking just as irrationally as your body is reacting. And I'm sure since you're going to cognitive behavioral therapy you're being instructed to somehow think and so act differently. Just keep that in mind, and be confident in yourself, because you are probably lacking enough confidence if you've got social anxiety.
I don't know if your doctor has already recommended it, but I'd say go spend more time in public, you know, just walk around or ride the bus more often. Get more used to being around people, and eventually you will get used to talking to them.

Its hard being around people when you can't be yourself. I get what your saying though and thanks.
