Not sure if you guys saw this or not, but it looks like legal tabs might be in for a fight... Hal Leonard Corporation (world's biggest songbook publisher) is urging music publishers and copyright holders NOT to allow tabs for their music on MXTabs.

Read more about it here:

That sucks but you know ultimate-guitar is never leaving because they are from Rusia and theres nothing that the Americans can do about it!

honestly, even if mxtabs came back, its going to suck so much arse from all this fukking red tape, I'd say its not worth Jeremy's time or effort

Regarding the Russia bit... I wouldn't be so sure about it not being touched. After all, it gets all of its money from American businesses advertisements, plus its offices are based in the United States.

Jeremy doesn't own it anymore.

well, whomever is in charge then

even if it does come back, its going to be so limited as a source, which basically renders it useless

They're taking care of all the red tape now. They wouldn't have bothered acquiring the site if it wasn't going to be a viable source.

obviously, time will prove whether or not it is, but from the information that's being trickling down, it seems like a lot of tabs/bands will be off limits.

Expect official announcements soon, but several thousand publishers have already signed up. Expect Green Day, Modest Mouse, Zeppelin, The Guess Who, The Who, etc. to be there (at least from what I've heard).

It really could be up to the users to start kicking and screaming though for the music publishers to know you care about the whole thing though in order to get all the content.

yeah this is not going to be fun with all of that read tape, seriously people have got to get tabs free, if they don't I wouldn't have ever gone anywhere with a guitar

MX isnt even gonna have any tabs you cant find online on some other site its stupid whats the point of it? ultimate guitar already has every tab mx will be allowed to get. At least mx has cool forums.

Yeah what's the point having two tab sites on the same internet?

People should just stay out of making an opinion on this. All you know is that some douche bag or an entire agency of them is trying to control and restrict your freedom of information.
