Can't find a new bass!

For the past 5 months ive been looking for a new bass and i cant find one in my price range. Im looking for a 5 string bass for playing metal, Ive looked on musicians friend for a 5 string between the range of $900-$1000 and theres only 2 items that even come close a Yamaha and thoses stupid looking Trabens...and ive looked in a dozen music stores and i cant find a bass in my price range...So am i doomed to pick between a Yamaha and a Traben? or can someone help me and tell me a 5 string bass for 900-1000 or a bass manufacturer that has 5 strings in my price range....Thanks a ton.

Maybe try the Ibanez SR or SRX series.

Seriously, you don't even need to spend that much for having a good 5-string "metal" bass. For looking around for the past 5 months, i don't know how you haven't stumbled across an ibanez. I'm sure ESP probably has some basses in that price range too, and they're as metal looking as it gets.

The esp f-405 is a pretty sweet 5 string bass. It runs at..... 750 (online price, esp prices it at 1,000) I wanna say? Its pretty much top of the line 5-string wise from esp.
