View Full Version : Recommend another MXer's song

I always like to hear good bassists on here, but don't get much time to go listening to everyone's songs. I guess the idea of the thread is to accumulate all the better MXer's songs, at least the someones opinion, into one place. Inspired by the people in the awards thread that don't listen to other MXers, this would act as an efficient source for finding bassists worth checking out.

Basically, recommend another MXer's song, or if none stand out just recommend the MXer. Reasons are appreciated!
I'll start the ball rolling (pun intended!)

"Space"

Very mellow song with great use of harmonics. Shame he had to take most of his songs off there - most of them were quality! This guy certainly doesn't get enough credit.

Disclaimer:
This isn't meant to exclude people or separate the good from the bad, it's just a reference thread. Don't be offended if nobody recommends you - hell, use it as motivation and go and practice!

I remember really liking roee cohen's "Jam" that was entered for the league one week I think, fast, tight fingerstyle, and a very sexy tone on his slap.

Loads of other great stuff on his page too, just listening to more recent things now... all very funky, very good on the slapping. Check out "who's funky now?" great stuff. Wish I could play like that, lol.

So yeah, go check him out ^

Wow, Roee is pretty good. I'm listening to some of his other stuff and it's pretty tight. Great slap tones and very clean playing

Rollo's "1am" is definitely one of my favorite solo pieces to come out of these forums.

Coffee's "Surge" and "Why Fly?" are two amazing tracks, also. He's got a lot of other amazing stuff that sadly isn't up anymore.

Indeed you did - I completely forgot about it! Christ that was 3 years ago?!

I'd say it was successful!Although it's much appreciated when people link songs which they didn't seem to do in that thread.

Keep them coming guys - these tracks are quality! I'd forgotten how tight Roee is, how so damn musical Coffee is and I'm learning about some other guys and gals well worth listening too!

I don't know the link, or if it's any more than a myth now, but "Vidja Game" by LUKE is pretty much the best thing ever written by anybody ever.

Havic's definitely worth a mention! I remember listening to Blues in the Closet a lot when he first put it up - so much so that I tried to figure some of it out, ended up failing, but making my own song out of what I'd got and won league 1! Cheers for that one ;)! A lot of really cool songs showcasing stunning fingerstyle phrasing and musicianship - across a range of instruments! Ladies and gentlemen, the Multi-talented Mr. Neely!

Dear god that recording of Blues in the Closet was bad, I'm surprised you were able to see anything worthwhile in it, haha. Glad you enjoyed it though, thanks for the kind words.

I don't know the link, or if it's any more than a myth now, but "Vidja Game" by Phil (Leftshoe) is pretty much the best thing ever written by anybody ever.

Hey thanks man, I'm glad you like the stuff. I just thought I would mention that we're about to release a full 12-track album temporarily titled "The Door on the Floor." The songs from the demo are on it, along with a bunch more.. which I feel really define our style alot more than the first demo... If someone could give me a way just to put one song up on here I'll put up a couple demo's of the new stuff.
