can anybody suggest songs that mainly involve slapping, because i've been playing for nearly two years now and i want to progress with this technique a little bit further.
i can sort of play the intro of classical thump, a handful of chilli peppers songs, and nocturnal (for a psychobilly bass line, it's a bit tricky).

Listen to some Marcus Miller, it'll help you learn how to groove with slapping whether than playing it rudimentarily...rudimentally?

Marcus Miller is so good. Power is one of my favorite basslines ever. Try looking into that. Groovy as hell.

Other favorite artists include Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke, And Les Claypool.
Most Marcus Miller slap is pretty intense and can be difficult if you just learning. If he's too tough, try out Graham or Claypool as a start.

Claypool is the man, but if you want to learn some wooten stuff you should learn to double thumb and that will open up a bunch of new doors.

I agree with you, about the claypool statement, and yes Marcus Miller is the best place to start it teachs you many things, some being not being a total slap wank, and applying slapping in a groovey way. Wootens stuff is great too,but thats something id suggest once you get better at slapping, and then move onto double thumbing.

The best way to learn a technique is to use it.
Like take a song you don't slap in and slap in it.
Or search the web for the best slap players and play some of thier songs.

theres a great Larry Graham video on youtube that helped me a lot after i had taken a break from slap for awhile to get back into it. search for it. Its really cool cause its him and the drummer from sly and the family stone and he sings the songs while playing them.

I agree with whoever said to take any songs you listen to and slap them, whether they're slapped or not.
