My old Zoom bass pedal broke the other day and I want to get something to replace it, I'm not really a big effects user but I just want something smallish (portable) that I can play around with and get some cool sounds from, I also liked the drum patterns on my zoom but I don't really need those.

I'm thinking of something that can offer some decent overdrive/distortion sounds, a passable compressor, a little phaser and maybe some wah or envelope. Needs to be good enough to play live, but just needs to be passable (not perfection), also needs to be affordable.

I was looking at a few but you can't really get a good idea of what they're like from internet descriptions, the Zoom B2.1 looks like a good deal so far though.

When I get a chance I'll go try a few, before then though does anyone have any recommendations of units to have a closer look at (or stay away from).

Thanks.

Honestly, if those are all the effects you want I would save and get individual pedals.

If you do buy a multi-effects pedal avoid Digitech like the plague, I got one for Christmas and found a new hatred for digital effects.

Why don't you get the same one as you had if you liked it.

some of them are alright to just mess around with if you don't use effects much.

follow this advice. There are several users on this board, myself included that own the Me-50b. Even record with it. While I never use it on a regular use, I will use it for the odd messing around with various effects. If you know exactly what effects you want, buy individual pedals.

Zooms have pretty bad sounds

Plus they break easily and are not very reliable
