I was helping my dad take a broken washing machine to the tip earlier today when I spotted an old Hammond Organ, I went over and had a look and the tip guy told me that I could take it if I wanted. We loaded it in the car brought it home, I dusted it off and powered it up, a few dodgy keys at first but after a minute they were working perfectly. I'm not sure about what model it is (its just a family organ, not one of the famous ones) but it sounds pretty cool and looks nice, very good for the price at least :).

I've been playing it solidly for the last 2 days, I've had some experience with keyboards before so I've been picking it up pretty well, I can play the entire Toccata from bachs Toccata and Fugue (not full tempo, but not far off). Had to leave it at my parents house now while I'm back at uni for a month but over summer I'm going to spend some good time with it.

Very cool man.

I once had a teacher named Mr Hammond. He told me I could play his Hammond organ.

My friend bought one of those for 75$, and I thought that was a good deal, but free completely takes the cake, haha.

since i've started watching my local craigslist, i always see a lot of organs like these go for sale at cheap prices. I've been tempted, but they're hard to move and i have no clue how to play it.

i'd rather use the money for a good synth or a Fender Rhodes.

Uhh...most people have no idea how to play their instrument the first time they pick it up.

I could have had a free Hammond, but it needed repairs and the power cable had been severed because it wasn't safe to plug in (too old).

Nothing's free.

Expect retribution to be paid in some form.

I don't like that it doesn't have those black keys at the bass end. Does anyone know why not?
