The film didn't have enough about The Big Boys and The Dicks. It's ok though.

The book is a good book in that even though his writing skills aren't exactly up to par, it's a first hand account of the scene from someone who was actively involved.

Yeah, agree that the author's writing skills aren't the greatest but I mean it's ****ing hardcore punk, man! Punx don't need to be the best writers.
All kidding aside, despite the poor writing skills, I found the interviews interesting and I enjoyed reading it.

Seriously that movie pissed me off to. All the talk of hardcore is dead and etc. They are pure 80's kids.

I'm reading Fellowship Of The Ring and it's really written beautifuly. I couldn't really appreciate The Hobbit when I read it in 6th grade.

If the guy left out all his own opinions and other bull, then it would've been a better book.

The film was kind of disappointing, but the stories were interesting to hear.

Reasons why it sucked:
1. His writing
2. The hardcore is dead chapter
3. He has a superiority complex
4. The constant talk about violence at shows. Who gives a ****, really.
5. Missed out a few key bands.
6. Almost every band got critizised for developing their sound away from hardcore.
7. I didn`t learn of anything I didn`t know already.
It did have some good moments, however, they are outweighed by the factors of mediocrity above.

Honestly the key with the regs here is to not read these books/watch these movies. Our music taste and knowledge are all ready awesome and superior so why even bother? It's just going to let us down.

Adam is actually 100% truthfully correct on all those points, save for 7 and 1 which are debatable. The writer does try to pass off a lot of his own opinions as fact, it would've been a lot stronger without his own rants.

I've read the book and I liked it. Saying hardcore died in '86 was a pretty bad move, though. Is there good live footage in the movie?

I've not read the book but I watched the film
I agree with some of the points that have been mentioned, but I thought on the whole it was a pretty cool film. Some of the interviews were pretty good and there was some alright footage. I'd recommend it myself

I actually liked the movie. I knew little about hardcore, other then the fact that the Bad Brains and Minor Threat were awesome, and I felt like I learned some **** from the movie. The ending made me angry though.

I enjoyed the movie. I just loved when the singer of MDC is talking about how he's gay and he mentions that last week the guitarist **** on his chest.
