However, when I searched for the thread it wasn't there. So I guess it longer ago than I assumed it was when I made this thread before.

So I know of maybe 10 bands top, some of the major ones. Carry On, Champion, xCaseyJonesx xLimpWristx, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits.

And I guess Minor Threat and like Teen Idles.

ANYWAYS, could you guys list some Straight Edge bands.
And I'm not sure, but I could make a list of the bands and submit them to the Recommandation Thread possibly.

Also, if I should have made this in the Hardcore thread, tell me please. I wasn't sure.

the others are more old-school punk influenced. Face Reality is pretty solid youth crew type stuff. CCP is on the early 80's tip [SSD/Minor Threat/UC]. Seeker plays more late 80's/early 90's hc jams [Absolution/Inside Out].

Only douchebags claim edge to fit in. I've been edge for about 3 and a half years, but I never hung out with other local edge people because I thought they were dweebs. As time would show, I'm the only one left.

Pride is a big part of my mentality. It's probably one of the reasons I became a skinhead. If you lack pride in yourself and your choices, then of course people who label themselves in any way is not gonna sit well with you, but it's all personal choices. Unless it affects you directly, let them be.

Well according to the FBI, Straight Edge and Skinhead are both gangs, and I'm a part of a local hardcore crew which is looked down upon and was considered a gang at one point.

Hoods used to be good, but their last few albums have been lame as hell.
Although the Hoods themselves aren't a gang, but they have ties with SK, FSU, and GAMC, which are some of the bigger hc crews in the country. FSU even had their own episode on Gangland which was lolz-worthy at best.

A Skinhead is a Skinhead. There's no such thing as a racist Skinhead. I'm not a member of SHARP, RASH, or any other such Skinhead groups.

Pride is not about feeling better than others. It's about feeling good about yourself. I'm not talking about heritage, either. I'm talking in terms of your immediate upbringing. A person grows up in the image of their father/mother, whether positive or negative. Some people choose to take pride in the things they learned from their parents: moral code, work ethic, etc. They choose to take pride in the execution of those traits in their daily life.

In a lot of cases, the most common thing that Skinheads take pride in is of being a part of the working class. Living day to day, doing the labor that is deemed rudimentary, but is essential to the survival of a community.

Skinheads are relatively simple creatures. Our image and mindset is usually not all that complex.

Word. Most people are misinformed on the subject due to the mass media and their perpetuation of the image of "neo-nazi skinheads."

You can read up on the topic of WP groups assuming the skinhead image from various sources, but the most notable movement involved the National Front of England which saw the rise in popularity of disenfranchised youths wanting to shave in at the beginning of the 80's, so they began to tell young white boys that in order to be skinheads they had to adopt the NF's ideals of white supremacy and whatnot.

Just about anyone in the scene will tell you that a racist skin is not a skin at all, but rather what is known as a "bonehead."

I've come to expect people to have misconstrued ideas of what skinheads are all about, so I don't let it get to me. I just go ahead and set them straight. :thumb:
