Well, thanks to some feedback on the track I had written called "Most", I have come up with the following changes on the new mix....

I punched the bass higher around the 40Hz as suggested, and I also gave it a little more in the hi-mids, and raised it in the overall mix too (it did have a compressor on it so I ditched that too).
I also was so very very unhappy with the snare drum sample I'd chosen so I re-inserted a new snare sound in there which I think is much more suited (the other one when you listen is very weak and tinny where this one has much more punch to it.... though each time I listen, I think the snare it a little loud for the verse so I might brush up on my automation skills in Pro Tools and lower it a but in the verse and raise it in the chorus).
I also took off most of the processing off the kick drum and left it the natural sample as it came out of Fruity Loops.
I also removed much of the reverb from the guitars (there was none on the bass) and its a much more dirty sound nowHave a listen and let me know what you think. The original version is still up there under "Most" and the new one is the top of the list called "Most (mix2)" so any feedback on the differences between the sounds, why you like one over the other etc will be appreciated.

Not too bad. I downloaded it, and, for the lack of anything better to do, I'm going to load it into Wavelab and master it.

keeps getting better.
the drums are admittedly MUCH nicer sounding on this mix. the bass is as well.
and I must confess... these guitar riffs of yours just keep growing on me. the chord progression gets cooler everytime I listen to it.

Anyone else have a listen? Interested in some comments on the different mixes, and as a song itself.
