The album cover for Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation is pretty cool. I liked Casually Dressed and Hours but from what I've heard from their new album it is going to suck so bad.

I like funeral. They put on a good show, but Hours is very lacking. The best stuff is the Bsides of the singles.

From what ''Into Oblivion'' sounds like, this is really just rock music, wouldn't call it pop-punk. They're an alright band though.

I've lost interest in them since Hours. I saw them live last summer and their set was 90% Casually Dressed material, which probably says a lot.
Surtr
04-15-2007, 07:03 PM
That's quite true.
But Hours is far from a bad album. It's got some amazing songs on it. And I'll agree that this new album, from the song currently released, sounds as if it's not going to be FFAF at all, I still imagine that either it'll be a good album that's not very FFAF sounding, or that only a few songs will sound like that.

They do sound very generic. I'd like to see if they improve any on their new album, but if they're keeping the same pace as most bands these days then it's not going to be that great.
Not a horrible band, but very boring to listen to imo.

All The Rage is their best song by far.
I like them. Their new stuff lacks energy, but other than that they are decent enough. I've seen them a few times, met them too. Good blokes.

So stale, so boring...the lyrics are lifeless, music boring and cliche. I see nothing interesting about this band, really. It's like they were churned out by the "generic 'post-hardcore' 'emo' 'screamo' band generator for bands that want to sound like Silverstein meets Senses Fail."

Funeral Had early Ep's too which got a lot more recognition than Silverstein's. Silverstein's only really made any kind of name for themselves when they release WBIEF where Funeral had popularity (at least in the UK) well before they brought out their debut.
Plus no one in their right mind would steal their sound from Silverstein, they both owe a lot more to Thursday, Glassjaw, Thrice, TBS.

They are pretty similar to FFAF but without the song dynamics and decent writing in exchange for scene kids and unashamed whining.

i honestly dont think you know what youre talking about on this one, ffaf attracts just as many scene kids as silverstein and they definately dont have any better song writing ability, theyre both just straight up generic and bad

Meh not here. FFAF being from the UK are pretty big so they mostly attract "normal" people.
And Casually Dressed is a good album but all the other FFAF sucks as does all of Silverstein.
I cant get over how awful the Silverstein singer is.
when i saw them before their new cd at a tiny little club (like 150/200 people) he actually sang really well, ive seen them since and they were completely terrible. i dont know if it was because it was a hall or maybe he just got worse.

Woah I'm confused
Anyway, yeah FFAF are definitely trying to shed that whole scene image. They had it during 2003, and to be honest, that kind of thing wasn't big in the UK then. When Hours hit, they tried to be more melodic, and I think Tales Don't Tell Themselves is just them trying to improve on that.
I'm rather glad FFAf haven't kept churning out the same album actually. It makes CDADIC still really fun to listen to, and Hours has it's moments on there too.

This forum isn't limited to just Pop-Punk. Usually just anything that is mainstream. Then usually anything that is discussed that isn't mainstream falls under Pop-Punk. If it doesn't then that's mainly because there's no other good bands to talk about. :p

mmmmm good one. Haha that was clever. Senses Fail are pretty generic but they're enjoyable to listen to and not boring. They have grown as a band and their new CD is solid. They have some very good guitar solos on that CD. Senses Fail are generic but they aren't boring.
Matt sounds so bored he has no emotion in his voice. There is no energy in this CD it's a complete and total step down from CDADIC and Hours, and I like both those albums btw.

I'd say this was really more of a Matt Project album than a FFAF album. The entire thing is about a man needing to get over his DEATHLY fear of water, so he can go back home to his family. But when he gets on the boat, it crashes and he's stranded out in the middle of his worst fear on a little piece of wreckage.
It's a sweet concept, but not a FFAF album.
