i love the juxtaposition of all the monstrous beefy hardware right next to that scrawny flaccid snare stand.

It actually cost me a lot more than $100 because I'm in canada...but yeah. I used it as a single for a while...got my right foot up to speed and if i ever play a gig where i need a single, i'll have it.

The 5k's are accelerators. I love the feel of them as opposed to the turbos.

And yeah chippy i just realized how wimpy my snare stand is. But compared to my other one, it's a godsend. I really should get a new one considering it's holding up my single most expensive piece of equipment.

EDIT: I also just realized the 5k can VERY easily be turned into two singles.

IMO I would of got a cheaper pedal for the woodblock... I would sell the single tbh, now that you know you can make the 5ks into singles as wel lol!

If i had got a cheaper one i would have upgraded anyway...

IMO, pedals are a big part of the kit and money shouldnt be sacrificed in that area. Really...money shouldn't be sacrificed anywhere on your kit.

^ totally man. I would say pedals are certainly one of the more important things, no point in cheaping out there.

Amazing pedal setup you got there, I really love the 5002, I would love a pair of em myself. Sadly these canadian prices make this a little difficult..

That's the sexiest pedal set-up I've ever seen, nice buys there dude. I wish I had the accelerator models, I ended up getting the Turbos :S

not quite good sir...they be Sour cream and onion...they've been there a while but i'm gonna try one to see how they are.

To Drummingben:

The 5002's are now my favourite pedals...They're quite a bit heavier than i expected them to be but thats what i wanted. I couldn't give you any information on the Turbo because i haven't tried it extensively.

These are basically very high quality pedals and they are above the rest (IMO) and well worth the price. Compared to my old pedals (Janus Transmission hi-hat system) they are better in everyway right down to the universal linkage. On the Janus, the part on the pedal got chewed up right away and the bar kept falling off. On the DW, it's much longer so it won't fall off and it's much higher quality so it's not getting chewed up.
I also love how even the link bar has a memory lock:smash:

EDIT: Chips are decent.

I've got the same pedal setup except I have IC's, my hihat is closest to the bass drum, and I have a stock/noname pedal operating a customized maraca (I wittled down the handle so it would fit where the shaft of the beater would go).

And I have a real snare stand. Bitch.

oh ok, i'm sure i've heard it in songs but never thought about what it actually was.....

Listen to Little Sister by Queens of the Stone Age. Half that song you hear the low pitched/red one going "clonk clonk clonk clonk."

As long as we're on the subject of DW's. I'm thinking about getting a new hihat stand sometime soon. I want to get 2 legged one because my 3 legged one I have now is getting on my nerves with it's inconvenience when I have my double pedal set up on my kit.

I was actually looking at the 9000 like you got etp, but it's rediculously expensive. So I was thinking about getting the 5500 2 legged stand or the 5500 Delta II. Is the 9000 seriously worth the extra 80-100 dollars (as in, is there something wrong with the 5500 series where I'm going to have buy a new one in a another year or 2 or something). I'm thinking I could get along fine with just the regular 5500 2 legged stand. Assuming it's a decent stand.

Panopticon
04-16-2007, 12:27 AM
the 5500 is great...the only reason i got the 9500 is because it was a floor model so it ended up being cheaper than the 5500...

The 9500 is noticeably smoother but the 5500 is smooth enough that i would have been extremely happy with it had i bought it.

wesm9787
04-16-2007, 12:29 AM
Cool. So is there any reason to spend the extra money on the Delta II then? I know the regular one says medium one and the Delta II says heavy weight. I don't know what they're considering heavy weight though. I mean I don't smack the crap out of my hihats like some of the pro players that buy this stuff. So I would think I'd be ok with medium weight.

Then again I don't want it falling over on me in the middle of playing or anything stupid like that...

Panopticon
04-16-2007, 12:31 AM
IMO everyone should have a 2-legged hat stand if they have a double pedal...it's so much easier...and its no less stable unless you put the legs in some retarded position.

wesm9787
04-16-2007, 12:33 AM
Well they're both 2 legged. I'm just wondering what the difference is between what they consider medium weight and what they consider heavy weight.

The 5500 Delta II 2 legged stand is about 60 dollars more than the regular 5500 2 legged stand. So I'm wondering if there's any point in spending the extra 60 dollars on that one. Like is the medium weight one going to tip over or anything dumb like that. If it would still work fine, then I'd be ok with just the regular 5500.

Panopticon
04-16-2007, 12:40 AM
It may not tip over...but it will most likely wobble a lot...going with the Delta just pretty much ensures that you'll be good...If your gonna spend 150+ on a hat stand...why not get the best?

wesm9787
04-16-2007, 12:42 AM
Because I am cheap and the 5500 is 120 as opposed to 180. But I see your point. I suppose I will just suck it up and spend the extra 60... when I have money to spend. Which will be in about a month.

Panopticon
04-16-2007, 12:46 AM
Yeah...pedals is no place to cheap out on a kit...it's something you use EVERY time you sit down at it.

In fact...theres really nothing you should cheap out on.

DethChamber999
04-16-2007, 12:50 AM
Nice man, I just picked up those same double pedals. I am getting a hi hat stand (paid for it already) also but its a 5000 series not sure the model, its the heavy duty one. But yea man awesome!

wesm9787
04-16-2007, 12:54 AM
Yea I agree with you there. The only thing I really cheap out on is heads. But that's because those are disposable and expensive, and that's a bad combination.

Panopticon
04-16-2007, 05:11 PM
yeah...but the best heads (IMO) are usually the cheapest anyway so thats a plus:smash:

to wesm,
The heavy weight is exactly what the name reads. It is one heavy mother. Super sturdy, but it does weigh a nice load. Though I've mounted multiple cymbals off of my stand and it doesn't even wobble so it is certainly stable and built to last.
