I'm fed up. I'll be without internets for about a week so someone PLEASE do the New Release Tuesday threads in sputnik and Olympus.

I am sick of hip little "indie" bands with no style, soul, sexuality, and smart little intellectual attitudes toward music. fuc.kin hair in the face, white bread, gap wearing, glasses sporting, grumbling noise makers they all suck. Except The Format, etc...carry a fuc.kin tune you bastards. and stop your hi-brow doodling you make me puke.

I am sick of so called "modern rock" bands with your mascara running down your eyes and black long sleeve shirts and jet black hair and warmed over glam fashion that hasn't been cool or edgy since 1976 you fuc.kers are killing rock gtfo please. oh and your stale, uninspired, soulless walmart begging music, too.

i'm sick of "classic rock" ffs that was 40 years ago it stinks on ice wtf with The Beatles, Stones, and Who already! Ok i'll take The Who fuc.k you if you
don't like it.

I'm sick of "punk" bands who bought their cred at Hot Topic fuc.kin posers go die.

But mostly i wanna say bye for now and PLEASE someone do the New Release Tuesday threads k thx bai.

Could one of the "indie" bands he's refering too be Say Anything? Its just that when I read his description they were the first to come to mind. I like them though.

JohnXDoe

my rants are always coherent i'm sick of rock n roll their is NOTHING fun or exciting about it anymore. nothing dangerous, sexy, edgy, destructive, rebellious, its all drivel i'm going off the internets for awhile and the point of this thread is for someone to step up and do the new release threads so plz someone step up

Why make a new thread about this in the sputnik section of the site?

Whatever, just because Circa Survive doesn't worship the Who doesn't mean they're not a good band. Ripping off TMV means they aren't a good band. I really don't have a clue where you're ocming from.

i have no idea who Circa Survive is nor do i expect all bands to worship the who fuc.k the who and why i made this thread here is because i hope someone picks up the new release threads while i'm gone. if not thats cool, too.

the sputnik forum is where most people with strong objective opinions about music reside. i'm not even sure if many of us are fans here. i know i'm not a fan of this thing we call rock n roll anymore. its all splintered off, everyone, even so called indie bands, looking to hit target markets, no one is saying, doing or playing anything worthwhile. no explosions, no substance, no excitement. its boring.

I love music. I have shitty taste in music but there's a reason why I listen to what I listen to: I think it's awesome.

04-12-2007, 10:41 PM
What Jom said. Everyone has shitty taste in music, but everyone listens to great stuff. It's just objectivity. The abundance of bands makes originality really rare, so why should we even complain about it anymore? If it's good, it's good, originality or not. (Unless, of course, it lacks any sort of good creativity, ie Chiodos.) What it needs is soul and passion, and that's what I agree with you on, but that's where the agreement ends. This tangent seems pretty pointless. It sounds more like you're stereotyping than actually going anywhere with your point.

I hate music, that's why I rate everything 1 or 5.

The Sludge
04-12-2007, 11:27 PM
Well, my expereince with 'original' sounding music, is that origionality wears off within the album. I like musical leftovers.

But to leave a quote
If it's good, it's good, originality or not. What it needs is soul and passion.

I actually like a lot of the recent releases.

Oh well

JohnXDoe
04-26-2007, 04:23 PM
its not so much the recent releases and how enjoyable they are. lots of music is enjoyable without being rock n roll music.

as someone who has been an avid fan and almost a student of the genre(like much of us here) and all that it came from and that which it gave birth to i see no movement in the music anymore. or room for movement. is that ok? sure, but from Elvis to the Beatles to the Stones to Hendrix to the New York underground to the Pistols to american "new wave" to G n R to Nirvana, what spurs on the music and causes it to continue in a healthy and relevant manner are movements within the music and the culture itself. mass movements. and i really can't see that happening. anymore. it really does seem that commercial elements have finally won, its all bought and sold and paid for before it even reaches our ears.

in the past (such as the eighties) an indie/alt band or two or three and more knocked on the doors of the mainstream and more then a few (REM being the biggest, then finally Nirvana) managed to at least bring a freshness to rock n roll on a whole. as the thing it is in total. and of course grunge (a stupid term) knocked down all the doors once again. although the real beginning of the end came with G n R (a whole other story, but not really) this won't happen again, IMO. its simply the beginning of the true end now. rock n roll no longer exist on the outside where it belongs. its now quickly absorbed, chewed up, and spit out like mush.

technology is to blame mostly. i love technology, but its a bad thing for rock n roll, which ultimately has to be presented to the ears pure or live and in person. its to be experienced as an individual thing, seep it in slowly, grow with it and love it. you hear of something, you go to it, a groundswell somewhere like in Seattle or London or San Francisco or New York, a distant calling, a dream, something for the mind, body and soul. it creeps up and then it hits. thats all gone now. its taken for granted, the youth of today divided, and the music serves almost no purpose these days except for the more self serving among us, who think rock n roll is something you can buy and attach yourself to to look cool or get some sort of "cred".

so enjoyable? sure. but so is my Soft Hits of the '70's mix...

Why do you love me?
Why do you need me?
Always and Forever
We met in a chat room
Now our love can fully bloom
Sure the World Wide Web is great
But you, you make me salivate
Yes i love technology
But not as much as you, you see
But i still love technology
Always and Forever
Our love is like a flock of doves
Flying off to heaven above
Always and Forever

You like Wilco.

Therefore you don't like rock.

JohnXDoe
05-15-2007, 11:09 PM
wilco is a rock band. not as loud as some, but A.M. is a rock n roll record, rootsy as it may be. they have taken detours and what not and i haven't heard much since Being There, but what i do hear i like.

the new one is very mellow. it really doesn't rock at all. give it some different production values and some of the tunes could belong to steely dan. fine record, though.
