What do you think of Chriss Angel?

I think he's really awsome illusionist. The best one I've ever seen.
I especially liked the one he gets into a wooden box and gets shredded by a wood chipper.

There are other illusions by him in youtube.

I know everything is fake, is just illusions. Even so I have fun watching them.

BTW that is a really nice trick, I'm going to try it out to some friends. Thankx for the link.

akira, for the levitation, there is a fake leg. i will provide a link for it so that u can c.

Chriss Angel uses camera tricks. If a human could float from one building to another, there's no way he would even be heard of, NASA would have him locked up in a cage somewhere in New Mexico.

what is with you people who feel the need to point out it's fake? Of course it's fake. nobody thinks it's real.

my guess is camerawork and the people watching being actors.

Well there are two kinds of fake:
1. It's all illusions performed live on the streets, with people being legitimately fooled.
2. It's tricky camera work and other cheats, and the people are told to pretend they aren't in on it.

The latter is what people don't like.

That's my guess. He definitely seems to know slight-of-hand/other illusions pretty well, but there is some stuff that I cannot believe is legit.

Camera tricks or not, that's still well good.

Never seen that one :( . I though the one where he goes throug a glass window was preaty cool. The one were he eats a quater and gets it out by cutting his arm, was good but gross.

If magic is real, this guy can do it.

I like the one where he cuts the girl in half with his hand. Then her top half sees her bottom half and carries herself away screaming.

In answer to the debate how he creates his illusions, Criss has been exposed several times for using actors in a couple of effects.

The thing is, that practice is nothing new. Magicians have been doing that since ancient Egypt. Guys like Slydini, David Copperfield, Houdini, Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, Max Malini, and numerous other greats all dabbled in this practice at one point or another.

As an illusionist myself, I'm telling you that how we do it is not as important as the end result. Saying that if Criss uses actors it's not "legit" is nonsense. It's no different than from the deceptions I use to slice an entire deck in half while it's still in the box, save for the one that signed using only a karate chop on the box.

Cesar21

Ur an illusionist? I didn't know that. What would you say is you best illusion?

The one I do best is probably my veins trick. I have them select a card, I drink down this vial of blue liquid and move my left hand as if guiding the liquid into my right arm. I have them grab my right hand, something that apparently causes me some degree of pain.

Finally, I take a UV light and shine it on my forearm starting at the wrist. My veins are glowing a similar shade of blue as the liquid. I move further up my arm, and near the elbow joint my veins have contorted to show the value and suit of their card (i.e. J S = Jack of Spades).

I agree that using actors and other "cheats" doesn't really matter. It's a TV show, so as long as the end result is entertaining the process doesn't matter. It's just an extension of the smoke and mirrors of live magic. It's not as though the stunts are supposed to be real, they are called illusions for a reason.

Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin once said in his books "A magician is an actor playing the part of someone with supernatural powers." He used all manner of automatons and stooging to accomplish some of his greatest illusions such as Second Sight and The Fantastic Orange Tree. One of his successors, Alexander Herrmann continued this philosophy by always being in character. He paid for his wedding on the spot by producing the money from thin air, produced cigars from President Grant's beard not more than 10 seconds after they were first introduced, and would wander up to a vendor just to crack open several of her eggs without explanation only to produce gold coins from them instead of yolks and let her keep the coins as he walked off without an explanation. David Blaine took on the persona of an urban shaman, a mysterious stranger who comes up to you, performs miracles, and then vanishes as quickly as he arrived on the scene.

Though illusionists play the part of real miracle workers, anyone who will tell you in complete honesty that he is the real thing is a god damn liar with Harry Potter Syndrome.

One of my favorite illusions Criss Angel did was the walking on water thing in the pool, cause some girl swam beneath his feet and everything.
