Raging Bull probably. Bronx Tale was good too. For a comedy I'd say Meet the Parents.

All these movies are good. Taxi Driver is it for me.
I think he brings a lot to any movie, even ones that aren't generally considered his classics. Has anyone seen The Fan? Echoes of an older Travis Bickle in that, gem of a movie that i reckon.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this thread was Casino... so I'll go with that.
Meet The Parents.
But seriously, probably Casino or Goodfellas.

Taxi Driver probably. He's brilliant in The Deer Hunter too, but like someone said, Christopher Walken overshadows him a bit in that.
The King Of Comedy is another of my favourites, he's so creepy in it.
The King Of Comedy
This, or Heat, or Raging Bull.
He's been going pretty downhill, to state the obvious.
Wish he would start working with Scorsese again.

Taxi Driver, Heat in close second. I remember renting Heat when it came out on VHS and it was like 3 tapes long, I own the DVD now though.

Part of the reason I think he was so good in The Godfather Part II was because he can speak Italian so well. Props for that.

I think you are right on with that, the part also seems so natural to him. In any case, he's one of, if not the greatest actor on the planet.

Scorsese and DiCaprio asked him to play Frank Costello, but he was just getting "The Good Shepherd" into gear by that time. He would've been great in the role, I think. Better than Jack Nicholson? You bet.

Goodfellas for me.

Taxi Driver
I think I prefer Casino to Goodfellas.
I don't think he had a large enough role in Goodfellas to say it's his best movie really.

What was that film where he played a catatonic awoken by a miracle drug invented by Robin Williams? He got uncontrollable shakes as a side-effect. He was really good in that.

I really didn't like that movie. Probably because my religion class ruined it.

I like that shot in Casino where Nicky and Sam drive out to the desert and you see the reflection in Sam's glasses.

MAYBE!!!
Jack Nicholson is a great actor as well, and did the part of Costello great.
I mean, I don't doubt that DeNiro would've done the role great, too, but I wouldn't necessarily say better than Nicholson.
Anyway, my answer for this thread would have to be either The Godfather pt. 2 or Goodfellas.

I would, De Niro is a far superior actor to Jack Nicholson. When he actually tries that is...
