I always hear people say/read that FOB were originally rooted in hardcore or from some hardcore scene or something? Can someone explain why this is?

I don't get it either. I've heard pretty much everything they've recorded (including the songs off their first split EP). it ain't particulary "hardcore".

I just did some research, turns out some of the members used to be in a few hardcore bands like Arma Angelus and Racetraitor.

Yeah, those are the two bands.

Someone in Fall Out Boy was at one time in Vegan Reich, also.

Any of you hardcore/emo guys like ANY Fall Out Boy then?

Fall Out Boy is overhyped. they're not nearly as bad as the stereotypical in-love-with-himself hardcore guy claim them to be.
they're a'ight. their newest album is awful though, compared to the previous albums - which are at times more than listenable.

but then again - I don't only listen to the most "in" hardcore bands, I listen to a lot of music, so I guess my vote doesn't really count. I mean - I listen to HIM. I'm a faggot, according to quite a few "hardcore" fans.

new song sounds like it would be a backstreet boys single.

In an interview recently Wentz lists lifetime's 'hello bastards' as one of his favorite album ever.

I'm sure he only found out about that album after signing Lifetime to Decaydence.

I thought that whole Fall Out Boy were ex-hxc guys was a really good story. I would of never guessed it true.

Ok... and?

Go on...

I'm sure he only found out about that album after signing Lifetime to Decaydence.

He said something along the lines of "It got me through high school without ever having to socialize with anyone."

They're not hardcore, but several of the dudes used to play in some pretty big hc bands like Vegan Reich and Racetraitor. Wentz used to be a big name in the Chicago scene, if I recall. They even have 2 dudes from Donnybrook as body guards. I think Wentz used to be in DNS crew or something like that.

I don't recall details, but it's just stuff I've heard.

I'm not denying the fact that they've sold out a couple of times, but c'mon! this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VBN_xwGnzXU is great :p

I also listen to a lot of other "questionable" bands, believe me.
