I'm sure there have been a million threads about this already, but since in the past few months I have become totally obsessed with this great band, I figured I'd ask around and see what you all think of Hüsker Dü.

Zen Arcade is very, very good. New Day Rising ranges from good to very good. Flip Your Wig has "Makes No Sense at All".

I only have a smattering of MP3s I managed to get off of LimeWire, but most of them are from Zen Arcade. AMAZING ALBUM. New Day Rising has some great songs on it as well (the title track, "Girl Who Lives On Heaven Hill," etc...). I haven't heard much of Flip Your Wig, and although it may not be super-cool to do so, some of the songs on Candy Apple Grey aren't bad either ("Don't Want To Know If You're Lonely" was the first Hüskers song I ever heard).

"Don't Wanna Know If You Are Lonely" is probably their best later-period song.

but there's also Punch Drunk, Folklore, Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill and so on.

but those are obvious cause theyre on the more famous mid-career albums :)

pssssssst. Punch Drunk is on the debut(studio)album.
and the whole mid-career thang is unfair. it's like those people always talking about how great an entertainer Freddie Mercury was, giving close to no credit to his musical abilities (which btw were exceptional). there should be a more even balance. both the hardcore, emocore and the alternrock periods of Hüsker Dü rule. they were consistent and genius the whole way. awesome band.

freddie mercury has no business in a thread about husker du. this isnt the all-purpose gay musician thread

yeah. like I said man. they deserve credit for all their albums, not just their mid-career albums.
Warehouse is awesome.

I kinda wanna hear what they would sound like remastered and all that business but something tells me that's just wrong.

Metal Circus is clearly the best record they released. Land Speed Record is also good.

Husker Du is the opposite of The Replacements in that the final songs on their albums are invariably the weakest ones.

I have Candy Apple Grey and New Day Rising. I've heard all of the songs off of Zen Arcade from either local radio or friends, but I need to download a copy *goes to the A/I Mailing list thread*.
Incredible band. My band covers 'Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill' :)
Cool band, I like them a lot. Good driving music.
