View Full Version : Featured Genres: Yay or Neigh?

Credit goes to the almighty Vince for this suggestion.
In the other forums, particularly R&M, every so often there is a Featured Genre article. Like the FA's (Featured Artists), FG's are of course on the creation/history of different genres and a description of the genre. Not to mention the bands that started the said genre and the bands that continue to pursue the genre. There aren't TONS of genres to discuss, so don't throw that in my face, but it would still be something different and it would be fun to do imo.
So who's up for it?
EDIT: The genres do NOT have to be limited to Pop-Punk standards. This is to, just as the EYT threads do, introduce new genres to the Pop-Punk audience and perhaps expand their tastes else-where.

Kinda defies the point of this forum imo.

Sometimes that makes me think "then why don't they just make this forum a subforum of the Punk Forum like they do Hardcore/Emo?".
But bleh maybe I just care about the forum not going down the sh'itter too much.

Probably. I don't know, it was only since last year I even noticed there was a Pop-Punk forum.

Not a subforum ever I don't think.
But, ATTN: ALL
Featured Genres are not only in Pop Punk. I wrote mine in R&M on Pop Punk.

I think that the Punk Forum may have use to allow discussion for Pop-Punk to commence in the forum, but then people got annoyed by threads being made about bands they considered vile (mainly under the Pop-Punk genre) and so it was contemplated to make it's own forum, and they made a decision to commence the action. I don't think it ever was a sub-forum though, because if it was then it probably would still be because if the Punk Forum regulars didn't like all the blink-182 and Greenday discussion going on in this hypothetical sub-forum it isn't like they would have to go there to post.
Anyway as Vince stated the FGs do not have to be limited to Pop-Punk. Genres not even relevant to Pop-Punk are welcome as well.

I will in fact encourage genres not related to Pop Punk because I won't learn mcuh from write-ups about Pop Punk nor will many posters here.

I could write a Prog Featured Genre.
That would be so awesome.

If enough votes go in favor of having these I'll start up a Featured Genre Signup, if that's okay.

For the same of space I'll probably re-allocate space in my artist signup thread for you to do that there as well.

This is worth a try. What's the worst that could happen?
Also, isn't it 'nay'?

Also, upon reading through more of the thread...
What in the world made people think that these would have to be pop-punk related genres? Seriously, how many pop-punk related genres can you guys name?
