Okay, from my efforts last night, recording into Pro Tools for the first time properly, I've learned a few things and I think i've managed to get a more even, listenable sound with some depth to the audio.

Again, ignore the fact that it goes for under a minute, and is the same riff over and over. I'd appreciate it if people gave me their thoughts on the 2 tracks that are up there, so I can consider them each time I do future recordings.

Hmmmm ain't technology amazing!!! I was talking to my brother in laws girlfriend online and asked her to have a listen to this peice. She liked it and asked if she could put some vocals to it (she's an amazing singer).

This is what she came up with... I just sent her the mp3 file, she fired it up into Adobe Audition and had a play.... Have a listen to the 2 tracks on the above link.

See, the Internet isn't just for pr0n. :)

there's summat wrong with it. or, it doesn't work here, anyway. only plays for about 20secs. but from what I heard, I don't like it as much as the previous one. sorry. it's consistent and everything, but I don't like the sound, if yah get what I mean. sorry.

Okay, something is not right with the uploaded track with vocals. I just compared it to the original mp3 she sent me, and its slower and lower. Sounds like soundclick has some clash with the format and its not quite right and it sounds really slow and flat.

The vocal-less track plays perfectly though, i'll try and re-upload the track with vocals.

Edit : Okay, its been fixed - I didn't realise you had to upload in matching Khz. Have a listen and it should play properly. Listen to the Instrumental first, then the track with vocals.

the first one rules this one, imo. I can't get into the sound and/or atmosphere, at all. reminds me a bit of a more boring version of Guano Apes.
the one with the vox are better, but it isn't quite "it".
I'm sorry, this just doesn't hit me. and I didn't even try to dodge it.

Nah dude, much appreciated. Its always good to hear different opinions on the same piece of music. See, the first one I really don't like as a musical piece, but the second one is something I much prefer to write something structured around.

then again - I listen to HIM. according to 99% of everybody here - that would make my opinions worth equal to nothing, so you shouldn't really care :P

Anyone else had a listen? I'm keen to find out what peoples thoughts were on the track, the recording sounds, and even it as a piece of music.

Sounds pretty sweet. I was expecting for the riff to stop half way through, with a 1second pause followed by a low drum fill, and then for it to bang back in again on a cymbal clash ;)
The vocals need to be stronger but it's clear the singer has a good voice. It has a lot of potential to be continued into a great song. Keep on with it!

Thanks for the words - I've actually spent about 3 hours tonight working on that track, adding some extra arrangement ideas, and building it into an actual song instead of what it originally was...... an experiment in Pro Tools :)

Its nearly midnight here and I have a 5:30am start so i'll save this session and continue again tomorrow night... Just need to record the bass line now, then give it a basic mixdown.

Hopefully I can post it tomorrow night for everyone to have a listen to. (it won't have any vocals yet.... that may come later.
