Haven't heard hip hop is dead, but I highly doubt it's better than Illmatic.

Is "Hip Hop is Dead" the name of another Nas album? I like Illmatic.

I just recently bought Illmatic to see what all the hype was about, and it really is good.
Dunno what Hiphop Is Dead is.

I should probably listen to Nas, because right now every time somebody tries to say one hip-hop song/album/artist is better than another, I have this running through my head:
Obnoxious mother****er, can't you tell?
Running through Little Havana yelling "Viva Fidel!"
EDIT: Also

Illmatic's not even that good there's way better hip hop albums.

I'm inclined to agree, although it doesn't really matter much to me anyway, as neither of these albums is that great in the first place.

Wow, that is the most ridiculous, faulty statement I have ever heard.
Illmatic is one of the best hip hop albums ever, Hip Hop Is Dead is pretty mediocre.

Illmatic really isn't that great.

Illmatic just seems so boring. Hip Hop Is Dead has better beats and samples. The only good thing about Illmatic is the production.

Wow. That is such a bold statement...
Hip Hop is Dead is pretty solid, but Illmatic is without a doubt one of the best rap albums ever.

The beats on HHID are way too glossy and are too much like everything else on the radio today. The beats on Illmatic have that gritty, old school New York sound, with the piano, bass and drums. And as for the lyrics and flow, the two albums are incomparable. Nas' flow on Illmatic is just ridiculous. HHID, not so much.

Illmatic is just a lousy album, and I like New York hip hop. Any of the first 4 Public Enemy albums are better than it.

Illmatic is better than Hip Hop Is Dead because Nas sucks at making big statements and also he's not as talented as he used to be.

If you had said It Takes A Nation of Millions... or Fear of A Black Planet, maybe, but Yo! Bum Rush The Show and Apocalypse '91? No way.

It Takes A Nation Of Millions... kicks ***.
Those who are worried about the beats: it's not the beats that matter, it's the words coming out of his mouth, and the beats on Illmatic are perfect anyway. Not so sure about HHID.
