Anyone like this director? I think he's one of the best younger directors out there, along with Christopher Nolan. I saw Magnolia a while ago and thought it was great (see this if you want to see a serious Tom Cruise role) and I've seen bits and pieces of Boogie Nights and that was pretty cool.

Boogie Nights and Magnolia were surprisingly good from what I thought they would be. But, what I love from him is Punch-Drunk Love. Sandler's character was just great as well as the relationships between him, his family, and his new girlfriend. And the soundtrack was good, too.

I loved Boogie Nights, everything else that he's directed hasn't had the same effect on me. Proficient films, yes. Yet they just did not strike the same chord, so to speak.

Resident Evil was definitely oscar-winning material...but I felt he really expressed his personal anguish and inner demons throughout the masterpiece known as Alien vs. Predator.

I was thinking more along the lines of how perfect Mortal Kombat was.
