I'm a huge fan of her. I loved her in the Skin and Bones tour with The Foo Fighters she was amazing, and she's been with other great bands like The Decemberists and Weezer.

I had to special order one of her albums because I haven't been able to find any of them at any stores. I was wondering if anyone has been able to find any of her albums anywhere, ha, or I guess if anyone else has heard of her. I've only found a few other people locally who knew who she was.

As far as that, feel free to discuss what it is you like about her. Personally, I'm a sucker for Breakfast at Tiffany's and a huge Audrey fan, so I loved Moon River by her. Also, a little side note, the Foo Fighters are my favorite band, Dave being my idol, so I loved that she even had Floaty on the album and loved her version.

Ha, and it would seem no one else knows about her.

Well, I know her. Pretty good. The only thing I have of hers is what she did on the Sublime Tribute album with Mike Watt and some other dude ... they did "Work That We Do" ... I love that version of the song. A guy I used to listen to played me some of her stuff, but I don't really remember much of it ... was it a Who album that she did using only here voice?? I've also heard some Rentals stuff, but that was so long ago. I actually just started playing the synth lately and I wanted to have a fresh listen to some of their stuff, but I haven't gotten around to it.

I wanted to add ...

I'll have to check out her version of "floaty", cause I've always liked that song (and pretty much anything else on the first FF album).

Yeah, it was an a capella version of The Who Sell Out. Never heard it, meant to check it out at some point. The only thing I can say I've heard her on is some Weezer b-side.

Nice, people who know her, haha. First, yeah, I've heard of her family, they're a family of musicians.

Her version of Floaty is good, I like it a lot. You guys should definitely try to find one of her albums, they're really nice acapella songs. I also have a song of her covering Journey - Don't Stop Believing.

As far as finding one of her albums... well... I've gone to quite a few different places and haven't found one of them. I was reliant on graywhale, but they didn't have it. If you find it at a store somewhere pls let me know. If not, you'll probably have to special order like I did.

Isn't she in the Rentals with Matt Sharp?

If so, she rules.

Yeah she was.

There's a link to her disography, although they're missing Foo Fighters - Skin and Bones on there. Apart from that it's pretty accurate. She's amazing, she reminds me of Dave Grohl, but instead of drumming for people she plays the violin-- and she's female...

How is she similar to Dave Grohl ... other than being a musician?? Not trying to shoot you down, I just want to understand.

Oh, haha, good question. Well, she lends her talents to a lot of bands. That is, she plays violin on a lot of different albums for a lot of different bands including Foo Fighters, Weezer, the Decemberists, etc. (read discography above for more)

Likewise, Dave Grohl has drummed and played guitar for many different bands on different albums, like Queens of the Stone Age, Tenacious D, Julie and the Licks, Cat Power, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, etc.

So, very much like Dave, they like to help and associate with a variety of musicians, and not surprisingly both Dave and Petra played together on the Skin and Bones tour with Petra playing as a Foo Fighter on the violin, and she covered the Foo's song "Floaty" off their self-titled album on an album of hers.

I guess I just see a lot of similarities between the two, they like to try and do new things and are involved in the music industry where they can be. Hope that answered your question.

I know she used to be in The Rentals.

I saw them last July, and Rachel Haden was on stage with them.

Not Petra, I know, but kind of close.

I have a That Dog tape around here somewhere, it's pretty good.
