I've decided that since my 1983 Peavey Foundation isn't seeing any work these days that I'd like to sell it to someone who will actually give it some work.

This is an absolute workhorse of a bass. Its been beaten up over the years, which isn't suprising considering the thing is 24 years old. A few knicks and dings are on the body and a few on the headstock. The neck is still in great shape and has a profile similar to Ibanez Soundgear basses. In other words its a very narrow fretboard with a C profile neck. I have the action setup pretty low right now and the thing plays great. I currently have the bass wired straight to the output jack. In other words there's no onboard tone/volume controls of any kind. Switching this back to a more conventional wiring would be very easy though.

These are the only photos of the bass I have right now, but I'll try and get some better ones uploaded tonight:

Recordings of the bass:
http://www.myspace.com/omicronred
(Recorded through a Fender TBP-1 set flat with a subtle OD)

http://www.myspace.com/vacantmusic
(Recorded through a Fender TBP-1 set flat with a subtle OD and a Jim Dunlop MXR M-80 with a slight mid boost)

http://www.myspace.com/thechrisandniksashow
(Recorded through a Sansamp BDDI with no drive, large bass boost, flat treble, and flat presence)

The case is a Gator Lightweight like the one found here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gator-Lightweight-Bass-Case?sku=546099
Its in great condition. Nothing really to say about this that can't be seen on the link. No photos just yet, but I'll get some loaded tonight.

I'm only interested in selling the bass and the case together, not separately. Asking $200 shipped to the continental United States. Contact me here on MX or via email at edge_q5@yahoo.com

Thanks!
-Chris

One thing I forgot to mention: This instrument is hand built in the USA. Where else can you find a hand built USA instrument for this price?

I'm interested. It would compliment my T-40 nicely.

I'm not sure if I have the money right now though.

Yet another thing I forgot to mention. This bass is the older style that still came equipped with the fantastic Peavey Super Ferrite pickups. :thumb:

i have questions about the pro's / con's of having it wired directly out... and is there NO volume control on the bass? it would be convient to have atleast a master volume...

I'm on AIM as well, but not too often. My screen name is Nuclear River.

Pros/Cons of having it wired straight to the output jack -
Pros: No pots in the signal chain resulting in a much cleaner and much hotter output from your bass.
Cons: No onboard controls if you feel you need them.

Basically I've never been one to use onboard controls. If I was using a passive bass I'd set the volume wide open, the blend centered, and the tone control completely off. If I was using an active bass I'd keep the volume wide open, the blend centered, and the active controls flat. Either situation is pretty much like running a bass with the pickups wired direct to the jack.

The reality of the situation is that if you don't like it that way having a tech rewire it to the onboard controls (which are still in the control cavity by the way) would be a very simple task.

I don't like the fact that it's got a thin neck, but I really want to downgrade my bass pricewise, while still having great tone. I'll think about it.

Would you charge extra for putting the controls back on?

dude you are SO going to regret selling that bass...

for those who are interested, I've got one of these basses and think it's a fantastic bass if you aren't all hung up on "cool" brand names.

very reliable, sets up like a dream, and has a very unique tone. the higher ballad range is very sweet, but the lower range has a growl characteristic of the super ferrite pickups.

anyway, if you're the kind of player more interested in tone than in image, this is a really top notch bass for the price. if you want more sound samples, I've played mine on my band's recordings:

Jorge: Yeah, to put it back to having the original controls will add $50 to the price. Whereas if you were to take it to a tech yourself I imagine you could get it done for around $20. Your call though. My tech is VERY talented and does great work.

Lisa: Thanks for the sale-support! I know I'll probably regret selling this bass but at this point I'm pretty much all jazz bass all the time. Anything else just doesn't feel quite as right in my hands.

I wish I played my jazz more, it totally rules. these days I have to have the low B, and don't want to set up the jazz BEAD because that's sort of lame.

Iand don't want to set up the jazz BEAD because that's sort of lame.

I wouldn't say that's lame, but I know I'd never use it. My primary gigging band already tunes down to Db and find myself requiring the upper register of the G string (the Gb string actually) a lot in the trippy parts of our tunes.

If sixner doesnt end up buying it drop me an email, ive been after a foundation forever.

I had a gig at this penticostal church playing bass for a gospel choir when they're bass player came down sick and I ended up getting to use a 1981 foundation through an 80s sunn head and peavy 1x15 cab. The tone was phenominal.

I need to find out if Ignus is going to sell me his guitar or not... i was supposed to buy his keyboard and violin but he had shipping issues and i havent heard back. but a bass like this would get alot more play than a keyboard / violin.

+ i <3 all white basses.

I don't know if it's the prospect of me getting my customs soon or what, but suddenly I want almost every bass I see. Of course, having Chris rave about the pickups and the bass in general helps...

If it makes you feel any better I got popped for $600 three years ago. I was doing 83 in a 70. What really got me though was that I hadn't looked at my license in a long time, and completely missed that it had expired 3 months prior :(

SOMEBODY BUY MY BASS!!!!

Depends on what state you're living in. Montana didn't used to have a speed limit. The speed signs would just read that the speed limit was "Reasonable and Prudent"

Well, if its just a deposit go get it back and buy this from me. What's more important:

a) Education, financial independence, your future, etc.
b) Buying a beat-up Peavey bass from the 80's
c) Five $100 prostitutes, or one $500 prostitute

Any answer outside of 'a' is acceptable :p

Jody LeCompte

I think I want the prostitutes.

I just had to buy a guitar amp edge, but in about 3 weeks or so if you still have it Ill buy it.
