Dont you just love lengthy thread titles?

Anyway, heres the story.

A few weeks ago, a bassist freind of mine contacted me, offering me a gig with this amazing drummer as a fusion jazz sort of thing. Me, knowing nothing about fusion jazz accepted gladly, as this drummer was in desperate need of a bassist, and the guy (my mate) who was going to do the band, had had to do other things.

Now, lets add more fun pressure to the situation. The gig was at a university, the whole thing is being filmed, its just over a month after I was asked to join, and its also the drummers audition for his masters degree.

Eep.

Anyway, I jumped in blindly, and so far, its going very well, apart from the gig is on the 17th of April, the keyboardist is on holiday for the next 2 weeks, im on holiday for one of them. Other than that its all going great (we did a couple of recordings of the songs live, and I will upload them at some point).

Onto the next part of this band. Turns out the guitarist can sing. And knows the drummer quite well. They both come from the same part of Cyprus, and both moved here together, leaving their old bassist behind. They asked me a couple of days ago if I wanted to take the bassists part in their nu-metal band "Antisight".

Well, turns out the guitarist can sing, pretty well, and the band doesnt sound too shabby at all! In fact, I bloody love it! So, from doing a favour for a a mate, has turned into a part in a really decent band!

And the moral of the story? Network, and help people out, youll thank yourself in the long run!

Anyway, here is one of their not so amazing songs, the others that I dont have access too are much better. Its still a great tune though

(PS, please forgive how badly constructed that post was, I have appauling grammar skills!)

I'm impressed with that one song. I'd like to hear the other stuff.

I thought the vocals were very strong, along with the drums. Didn't care much for guitar and bass. Well, hope you have fun playing with them. :thumb:

eh, it's not something i'd really listen to, but it sounds pretty tight as a band, and i hope you have fun with it.

Kind of strange mix on that recording. I hear excessive shimmer on the high end.

If it float your boat, great.

The band seems pretty put together.

At least it's not emo.

I think what I like about them is that, they're nice guys, and they are also the first band that have asked me to join them who were, well, not ****! Ive been in so many shitty bands, its such a relief to join one that can actually claim to having a couple of good songs/any songs at all!

They kind of remind me of Shinedown. I like Shinedown.

I really liked the singers voice, but the rest was kind of bland.
