i just read a review about the new Machine Head album "The Blackening" and it should be a MASTERPIECE! ppl say that you can compare it even with the importance of "master of puppets" or "Burn my eyes" (MM).
has any of you already listened to it? is it really THAT good? i think i will buy it tomorrow or in the next time :)

According to Mikesn it's bland and not very good. Hmmmm.
Either way I don't like Machine Head.
I think it's incredible. Easily the best thing they have released.
EDIT: There are two tracks from it on their MySpace.

Oh, sorry. Now I Lay Thee Down and Aesthetics Of Hate.
I dunno. Doesn't sound like their heart is in it like their old music.

Oh, sorry. Now I Lay Thee Down and Aesthetics Of Hate.
Both pretty good stuff. Admittedly Ive only heard TTAOE in full albumwise and I wasnt that impressed but it was mainly the "ballads" that put me off - I enjoy Machine Head when they just concentrate on heavy, varied riffs plus aggression.

Wow, normally I find this band to be a crock of **** but i'm enjoying this, I like the tones and the flow.
I'll probably be able to say more when ive heard both songs a couple more times.

TTAOE was my first metal album i bought and its still my fav. MM release.
the two songs are great :D i will buy it tomorrow :)
What does MM mean?
But it's good that you like it. If you like those songs, you'll definitely like the rest of the album.

I read about the themes and lyrics and heard it's all like anti-war in Iraq and anti-Bush etc so I doubt i'll check this out.
As if they have anything new to add to it.
The first song and last song are the only two that deal with that theme but 'eh.
There's no anti-Bush in it.

Lyrics aren't a good reason to put off checking out an album!
Anyway, I heard a song off this on the radio and was pretty impressed. It surprised me because I thought all of their previous material that I had heard was pretty bland and boring. I think I'm going to buy this one though.

It's a huge reason reason. If a band has bad lyrics I won't bother listening to them/liking them.

The lyrics aren't noticeable, really. They're not explicitly good or bad, they're just kind of there.

after listening to it for several times in the last 24hours i have to say, its indeed their best release! right after through the ashes of empires!
they play a lot of solos in their songs (which they haven't done in TTAOE) and the solos are really cute... the calmer refrains are as good as always (typical calm refrains by MH); Robbs vocals are great - he can shout like a beast.
the intros and licks will kick your a$$
best songs so far (though thats really difficult to say... every song is fantastic)
Clenching the Fists of Dissent (first riff + WARRRRRRR!)
Beautiful Mourning (intro!!)
Now I Lay Thee Down (best song so far...)
Slanderous
i think those are my fav. ... but how i said: every song has its best parts :)
The ending of Clenching The Fists Of Dissent is :D
The riff at 2:12 in Beautiful Mourning is fantastic. The drums make it twice as good. Halo kicks my *** every time. Slanderous is killer. The solos in that and Aesthetics Of Hate are the best they've ever written.
I don't think much of Wolves actually, despite the praise everybody seems to give it. The part in the middle of the song is good though.
Now I Lay Thee Down and A Farewell To Arms are just \m/
