Hey everyone,

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but does anyone know a good way (not involving loc-tite) to keep lugs from loosening excessively?

This happening with your snare?

if so its probably from the rimshots near or over one of the lugs

You may want to buy some better screws. I forgot the name of them but they guarantee that these screws are slip proof never loosen. They work for me

the lug locks work pretty OK.

This seems counter-intuitive, but play along:
see if your t-rods have any vasoline-esque or lube-esque substances on them. If they don't, run the bottom t-rod (like 3mm of it) in some vasoline to get a big glob. Now put it back in.
It seems like lubing would make the problem worse..... but at low temps and low speeds (think about how fast your t-rod is spinning..... maybe like what one radian per week or so?) the vasoline acts more like a weak glue (ie sticky) than a lube.

plus it'll keep your surfaces from corroding!

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it.

I got them free from a clinic and use them on my old steel snare that the tension rods are like 20 yrs old. It seems to work

but try the vaseline thing first, that dont work, give these a shot

Cool. Thanks again. I'll try the vaseline first, but these look like a good backup.
