Billboard.com reports that LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED and LORDI are among the first acts to be revealed for the 2007 Ozzfest tour. LAMB OF GOD and LORDI will perform on the main stage with headliner OZZY OSBOURNE, while HATEBREED will headline the second stage, supported by MONDO GENERATOR, ANKLA, CIRCUS DIABLO, NILE and THE SHOWDOWN. The 24-city tour begins July 12 in Seattle.

That may be the worst lineup they've ever had. Nile is as random as Strapping was last year.

Discuss.

the showdown is so so bad

this might have something to do with ozzfest being free too

It clearly has to do with it being free. But it's not like the lineup would have been that much better if it wasn't free.

Nile and Mondo Generator for free sounds good...the rest is crap.

I wouldn't go.
Only band slightly worth seeing is Nile, but I wouldn't spend my time traveling to thier for them.

Maybe I'd have to go for them. But goddamn. That's pretty sad.

They didn't sell out, they're still writing the same generic and repetitive crap they've always played. They got to where they are by having fans with shitty taste embrace them, but they've stayed true to their mediocrity. Hardly selling out.

Wow...It's a free festival, and they still manage to **** it up. You know a lineup is bad when the show is free and I still won't go....Oh, and when the Showdown is on it. Seriously, what the hell.

But it's Ozzfest...It was stupid to get my hopes up.

Nice to see people on here know that Nile is garbage.

Their vocals could not suck any more.

I think they have a few good songs.

Then you listen to the rest of the album, and you realize that it's all been recycled.

Generic and repetitive crap? Hardly. Name one band that sounds like them. MAYBE I can understand the repetitive comment because they stick to the same themes, but I just don't see how you can call them generic.

I think they're one of the best death metal bands ever.

Their music is ultra bland peusdo-technical and generic from a "brutal" sense. A few shitty middle eastern styled leads don't do anything but make them seem like even more of a novelty.

I used to be a big Nile fan, but I grew out of them. The only band I would really be interested in is Ozzy. Im not going to drive to Jersey to see Ozzy though. If they came to new york, then I may have considered going just for Ozzy. Unless better bands are announced, Im not going to go.

LoG put on a great show even though Im not a huge fan. Seeing them once at Gigantour was enough for me though.

Well, when you put it that way, it does sound like it would be pretty boring, but Nile put a lot of passion into their music which is what sets them away from the pack. I can really hear the passion that they put in... for example: the solo on Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten.

I heard a rumor that Alice in Chains were going to play. Even without Layne, I'd still see them. Especially because of the price!

Nile sold out.

..to play on a tour they won't even get paid for. Boohoo.

The Showdown's new CD is way disappointing..horrible vocals and the riffs sound too much like a Maylene rip-off. They've gone a lot softer. Them getting on Ozzfest is kind of random though, I remember seeing them play hall shows just a year or too ago in Tennessee.

Daath

Man, the southern metal underground is starting to get huge...first the Showdown, then Maylene, then Destroy Destroy Destroy, then Daath...Daath is badass, good to see they're getting some mainstream play.

can i play @ ozzfest i will play for free i don't even care me and my band just want to get our name out and show everyone our heavy metal

If you aren't signed, and want to play on ozzfest, I believe you have to pay $2,000 bucks and provide your own transportation. Meaning Lamb of God gets a huge tour bus and you have to drive your asses around in a beatdown van. That's the way to go, though.

3 INCHES OF BLOOD and DAATH have been confirmed for the second stage at this year's Ozzfest. The festival billing is now shaping up as follows:

LORDI

Second Stage – Non Rotating:

HATEBREED
[to be announced]
MONDO GENERATOR

Second Stage – Rotating:

NILE
ANKLA
CIRCUS DIABLO
THE SHOWDOWN
3 INCHES OF BLOOD
DAATH

Who said anything about Black Sabbath? I hate black sabbath, but I give them that they invented heavy metal and do a good job of defining the genre, at least in its early forms. It's not really the same music anymore, but...
I was talking purely about Ozzy, who's solo act was a steaming pile of bad cliched 80s shock metal with a tinge of mainstream hair metal thrown in. The man couldn't sing well enough to redeem the sex pistols and the guitar work was a bunch of ultra distorted ripoffs of everything maiden and sabbath were doing.

As for Nile. No other death metal band has really caught my interest expcept for well, maybe Death, and a few melodeath/doomdeath type bands such as orphaned land and saturnus. But it was only really one song that I enjoyed. The rest is a bit meh. I do like a few early grind acts like ENT and Napalm Death tho.

Seriously. I'm not a huge Ozzy fan, but I quite enjoy Black Sabbath. This is from my Heaven and Hell review

My name is Tyler, and I hate Ozzy Osbourne. I fail to see what's so appealing about the guy. I mean, first and foremost, he's a terrible singer. More often than not, he sings way off key and it's really, really excruciatingly bad. While he was one of the founding members of the pioneering metal act, he was neither their primary lyricist (Geezer Butler) nor was he their primary songwriter (Tommy Iommi). And so while some people associate Ozzy as being the face of Black Sabbath, I feel it's an unwarranted to put such prestige on a man who did so little. When your career as a musician was built upon those surrounding you, as well as senseless antics, I feel it's not something worthy of praise. I was never much of a Sabbath fan growing up, not that it's of any importance, I mean; I was born in 1988, too late to really be disgusted or happy about any change in vocalists. Therefore, with the combination of my lack of understanding for the appreciation of a sub-par vocalist, as well the fact I care not about "the face of Sabbath", I am quite the fan of 1980s Heaven and Hell.
