I have yet to see anything on Fela here at Sputnik, so are there any fans of Fela, or anyone here that has heard of him? My favorite albums of his are Zombie, and Expensive ****. His music is what they call "afro-beat" or "worldbeat".

I have heard a couple good things from him. I'd like to hear more, but I'm already into so much different stuff.
So for an introduction, those 2 albums would be pretty good?
I saw his son Femi Kuti on a video of the Bonaroo Festival, it was actually better than the stuff I've heard from Fela.
Any recommendations of his son's music?

He's mentioned every once and a while. "Zombie" is one of the greatest songs in the history of mankind, definitely a nice place to start. I got started with the Best Best of compilation, which is nice if you've got the cash and want a broad scope of what he's done. I'd be interested in some Femi recommendations, too, dunno where to start with him.

If you want to start checking out Femi, my advice would be to get first his self-titled debut album. Fight to Win is also an excellent effort, and has been called his "first great album."

Phenomenal artist. I don't listen to him (or any other artists in his genre for that matter) that often to be honest , but I get hooked on his stuff for a while when I do.
