as a session band musician what songs are VITAL to know by heart?

This includes jazz standards, common wedding tunes, maybe even some up beat rock or funk tunes or blues.

Id like to have a nice four part setlist (that being blues, swing/bop, bossa/samba, and rock/funk)

and when I say rock I mean like Billy Joel not Twisted Sister

blues - St. Louis Blues and Easy Rider (aka See See Rider)
rock - maybe ?Like a Rolling Stone and I Can't Get No Satisfaction?
jazz - Night and Day, A Night in Tunisia - maybe All the Things You Are, Limehouse Blues, All Blues, 'Round Midnight, Misty, (I know those don't all fit into swing/bop) and a bunch of Duke Ellington
People really dig the Pink Panther theme too. Remember that.

blues -
Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign
Mississippi Shieks - Sitting on Top of the World
Leadbelly - Goodnight Irene, In the Pines
John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom
Howlin Wolf - Smokestack Lightnin
and Baby Please Dont Go, I dont think anyone wrote this, just an old folk blues song, but CERTAINLY a blues standard.
