well, the local guitar shops in my immediate area are ran by sub-par techs that I wouldn't entrust a 100 squier to. Obviously bigger chains can offer better deals, wal-mart being the paragon of examples here

as far as talking smack on GC, i can't argue TOO much, but I will say if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have been able to try out half the amount of gear I've had.

Tube amps have thier pros and cons. They're better at higher volumes, simply because that's the way they work, whereas Solid State tends to oversaturate at a certain point.

Only problem is, over time a tube amp will start to sound different, and you'll need to replace your tubes. Your amp will sound completely different at the end of a tour than it did in the beginning.

My hughes and Kettner is a Solid State and I love the hell out of it, but I do wish I had the tube performance at higher wattage/volumes.




I make up for it with my array of pedals though lol I'm a pedal freak. I run through a Digitech x series metal master distortion, a boss ns-2 noise suppressor, a Morley Steve Vai volume pedal, a Morley Mark Tremonti power wah, a boss tu-2 in line tuner, and a boss eq pedal. I'm also thinking about getting the line 6 uber metal pedal.
