I'm not sure if this is the right place to make a thread about this band. If it isn't than feel free to close it mods.

Anyway, which album by them is better and is worth getting first mit gas or their self titled.

oh yeah, and feel free to discuss anything relating to the band

I own both albums, found them used. I don't know when the new one is supposed to come out, I thought they were recording/mixing it last fall, but I'm excited for that one. It's supposed to be stripped down and acoustically driven.

Both albums are good. Mit Gas is maybe a little better.

Like a Patton project.

They're like a shittier FNM

Ahhh.

I haven't heard any Patton besides Mr. Bungle. :\

They're alright, one of my least favorite Patton projects though. They just sound uninspired and bland at times.

"Narcosis" (mesmerizing riff) and "Birdsong" are their best.

Tomahawk is probably their best album overall though, get that.

They're not a Patton project because he doesn't write the music, Duane Denison does.

C'mon guys don't let my thread die.

some more people need to listen to some tomahawk

Mit Gas is better.

Tomahawk's one of the better Patton involved projects, imo. Fantomas is one of the worst.

^^ how could you say that?

though to be honest tomahawk is the only patton project i'm not interested in.

Fantomas and mr bungle(rip :'( ) are the definition of awesomeness.

I heard like five or six songs by them and thought they were all decent/good, especially "rape this day" and "god is a coward".

New album should be out middle of the year, I'm sure some scheduling needs to be done at Ipecac since Fantomas are releasing a new one and the second Peeping Tom won't be far away.

Tomahawk are similar in some ways to Jesus Lizard (Dension's former band), maybe a little less chaotic.

there are far better songs. a better song from each album would be "capt midnight" and "sweet smell of success"

capt midnight is definitly a beautiful song and is a must listen for anyone looking to get into this band.

still can't decide which album to get. I guess I'll for which ever is cheaper on amazon

Go for Tomahawk, I love the dusty textured cover art. Plus the music is much seedier.

'Mayday' and 'Sweet Smell Of Success' are cool songs.

They're not a Patton project because he doesn't write the music, Duane Denison does.

I'm sure he's the gimmick that attracts most of the fans though.

Like me. I stayed for the music though. Patton is really solid though, he doesn't really do his vocal masturbation with anything except maybe "Aktion 13F14".

Everything in Tomahawk attracts me.

"Rape This Day" could be on the radio.

I don't want to quote AMG, but it sounds like Foo Fighters. They made a music video for it, and think they released it as a single.

Doesn't it just sound like something you'd hear on the radio? Most of Tomahawk's material, if I were in charge, could exist on the radio, but this song more than the others.

It's not as polished as current FF material. It would probably fit onto graveyard shift radio.

whoa, apparently mike patton is doing some voice over work for the darkness

It's a game that's coming out for the xbox 360 for those of you who don't know

I can see Patton being a mafia guy with super powers

CrossTheBreeze
04-04-2007, 09:54 PM
I think he is going to be doing the voice for "the darkness", which is like some demonic force that takes over the main character

last three albums bought:

tomahawk - mit gas
fantomas - the director's cut
dep w/ mike patton - irony is a dead scene

i didn't do this on purpose... my used place has been fertile recently
