Yep, that's them.

Their first album was really fun, their second was a bit of a step down but had a few great songs, then their next three albums (Shadow Zone, that B-sides album, and Start a War) were a collective trainwreck with only a couple salvageable songs between them... but their new album from what I've heard seems to be a huge improvement, which doesn't really say much, admittedly, seeing as I've only heard three songs off it.

It helps that they have the same line-up for two albums in a row now - I think Tripp was a terrible songwriter and that's why Shadow Zone was so terrible. Their frontman, crazy hair and all, is a pretty down-to-earth guy.

I read a couple of interviews with the lead singer/guitarist and he seemed really really cool.

Their music? generally not my thing but theyve got some cool songs here and there.

I liked them 5 years ago. I still like them. It's fun and catchy. If you stop liking what you used to like simply because of some image or because you think you've gotten "too old for it", you're gonna miss out on some good times.

Anyways, I've never liked Static X. The first time I heard them was on the Need for Speed Underground soundtrack. The song was "The Only" and it was pretty terrible. My friend would whore them every once and a while, but I still never got into it.

Talent is definitely a grey area but at least it can be gaged in some way.

I'd consider myself a S/X fan but they are by no means the best guitarists, bass player or drummer out there (cept maybe when Josh Freese did Shadow Zone). But at the same time they're still good at what they do.

I honestly believe they have very little musical talent. That's just my opinion. Anyone can go chugga chugga really fast, yell like a wierd robot, and throw in some electronics for good measure.

Yyrkoon was one of the weirdest death metal bands I'd heard. I listened to Unhealthy Opera a lot for a while, but it just got plain repetitive. It sounded a bit like Gojira.
