The only downside for everyone with MXtabs coming back, is my returning...
Still, i've got 30,000 tabs to sort through on my main computer...but MX will be good for newer stuff when it's back :D

Found out about the return today. It's good news as far as I'm concerned. BTW, the front page now says Summer 2007. I dont know if I'll contribute anymore though... doubt I'll have the time to tab more, and I wont be able to play drums when I go to uni in September. It's a pity as I almost broke into the top 5 drum tabbers (not that there was that many with points on the list)

That article made it out like Jeremy doesn't own MXtabs any more ?
Or have I interpreted it wrong ?
WishMaster

Drum tabs are most likely coming back too. The article focuses on the guitar tabs because it's a press release and it was probably best not to make the story too confusing - people know what guitar tabs are.
Anyway, I expect drum tabs to come back as well... although I can't make any promises.

Oh yeah - regarding Jeremy. No, he doesn't own the MXTabs site anymore, but he is working with Musicnotes on the site. Musicnotes has a lot of experience with licensing guitar tab and sheet music online and has an easier time working with publishers since there's a long history already there.
I'm sure Jeremy will share more news on this soon. Our hope is to put the site back up with free tabs, allow people to submit and run the site through the community etc. - but to update it so that it has a slightly new look, improved navigation etc.
Basically so long as everything goes according to plan, it should be everything you loved about MXTabs - but without worries about shutting down for copyright reasons.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on things they definitely want back or things they definitely don't want (or even new features), let us know... we're working on the new site now and want to get you guys what you need to make MXTabs as great as we possibly can.

Better rankings system
Viewing comments made on you tabs led opening up several windows (if you took the links from your profile)
Remove anonymous voting, it turned into competition imo, there were a few of my tabs that got the odd 1 vote, after being given 4s and 5s and I suspected someone was doing it on purpose, someone who was tabbing the same songs as me. Not that I'm gonna name names.

So does this mean we will have free access to what musicnotes has to offer online and also tabs that actually get published commercially?
WishMaster
04-19-2007, 04:43 PM
No, official for purchase tabs (those not created by the online community), will not be available as free downloads - although there is possiblity that some of it could be made available as sponsored downloads.

im just worried that were gonna get taken advantage of... think about it
the company allows us to tab a song, next thing u know, they are selling that very tab and then what a member on here worked hard on is being profitted off of! And at the same time, it is no longer freely available to be seen, thus further insulting the creator. Musicnotes can simply say well it was on our site, and by using it the creator accepted our right to use anything on here and blah blah and then everything goes to hell!
