Seriously. No.2 in C minor? Freaking ridiculous. I mean...really...what the hell? I'd listen to something else now, but then...why bother? It's going to suck compared to this. :p

Other than Mahler's 9th, of course.

Piano concert no. 3 is the best. Well, besides Sonata no. 2.

I like No. 2, but then I'm a C minor whore.

Hay guys, what's C minor? Seriously, sometimes I get asked to play something in C minor/D major etc., where on my fretboard (bass) is that?

Besides that, got any youtube films for these pieces of classic music?

lol. C minor is a key/scale. It includes the notes C, D, E flat, F, G, A flat, and b flat. My advice would be to invest a little time learning your theory...at the very least your scales.

Oh...looks like there's a video of a performance of the piece:

I kinda liked Vladimir Ashkenazy's version better though, TBH.

Great piece. Had a go playing the opening bars of the piece, and those are some hand stretching chords right there. I can about reach them though.

Rachmaninoff is The Man, though there are so many other composers who are also The Man. I wish I could play his piano concertos, they sound amazing, and are amazingly incredibly very difficult. I played his C sharp minor prelude (you know, the really famous one) for a recital about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and now I'm starting on the B minor prelude.

:)

I was really wanting to watch those videos, but my computer has decided that is doesn't like youtube... it says you don't have flashplayer, so I download and install it, then it says the same thing, or that it's switched off or disables somehow. No matter, I kind of like listening to recordings as the quality is higher than youtube generally.

Of course, but listening to things on youtube is probably better than not listening to them at all. :)

I'm downloading it now. I love what little Rachmaninoff I've heard, so I'm expecting good things.

Yeah, Rachmaninov was quite something. I recently was able to see his 1st Piano Concerto for free in Melbourne... it's not as well known as 2 or 3, but I think it deserves to be up there.

I've only heard his 4th PC once, and I can't find it on CD anywhere...
