Cymbals that is, not the swords. I've seen an advert for some of these 2nd hand and fairly cheap, but I've never heard of them. Does anyone know what they're like etc??
Cheers

Very old lower line model cymbals from zildjian. Introduced in the early 80s and were discontiuned in the early 90's. Replaced with the ZBT line of budget cymbals.
Due to the nature of cymbals, the changes in generations and simply times effects on the cymbals. Some of the older ones areplayable and have some cool sounds. For the most part though, just plates of metal.

ah cool, thanks. That's pretty much what I suspected. I've tried the ride before, which wasn't too bad, but this was a crash. Not what I'm looking for though, I seek only a decent crash that's better than my current stagg
cheers

Some are good, most are terrible. I have an early 80's 18" crash/ride that is somewhat decent. A buddy of mine had a 16" crash that was fugging awful though.

I bought a pair of 14" Zildjian Scimitar hi-hats last year at Guitar Center for $30. They're not the greatest, but they're very versatile, and were definitely worth $30.

I have a 20" Scimitar ride with a nice amount of patina, and has a kind of harsh wash (imagine how harsh it would be if it weren't so old), but actually a nice, cutting bell. Its playable, but I would like something new.

Hey, my 18" Scimitar Crash/Ride was the best sounding beginner cymbal I've ever heard.
REALLY helped it had never been cleaned.

ha, my cymbals from 68' sound absolutely terrible. I think trash can lids would sound better.......... THe plastic trash can lids..:smash:
So in the older the better theory, I wonder what they were thinking back in the day?
