She's a peavey Gring BXP and she was a present from a relative about 4 years ago.

I since stopped playing bass for whatever reason and lost most of the skill i had at the instrument. A few months ago i played in this band: http://www.myspace.com/besideyourdisgrace and this rekindled my wish to play the instrument.

So can anyone give some advice on an old bassist who's since lost all his skill?

You got an awesome bass. Must look good next to your awesome drum set. As for the losing all your skill, It'll come back after practicing alot, taking it slow, that sort of thing.

Not a bad bass at all, though 6ers don't do much for me. Your hair on the otherhand... :naughty:

Aye the photos dont really do it justice.

I'll find the specs on it.

35 inch scale
24 frets
6-string
Passive humbucking pickups
Mahogany neck with maple stringers
Imbuya wings
Neck-through-body designIts also got a cut out section on the bottom wing for pop bass.

Not a bad bass at all, though 6ers don't do much for me. Your hair on the otherhand... :naughty:

Haha the hairs all brown now. It used to be a mohawk till i got sick of it.

I also own this:

Its a squier showmaster and i reckon its about on par with mexican fenders. Again, not much but i love the tone.

I also used to own a BC Rich warlock. Never again. That thing was horrible.

eh the fendershowmaster not on the same level as the grind but I played one of those basses and from what I understand about basses fenders play pretty well....As for the warlock I have....had the guitar version and lets just say it resides in the lowest corner of hell in about 8 pieces. lol that thing sucked, the tension was terrible and tuners had a bad grip on the strings. bleggh

Nice bass man :)
And yeah just keep practising, it's happened to me before like the only time i played bass was at band practise at one point and I got very sloppy after a few months.

Peavey Grind? Damn good basses for the price. They feel really good in your hands, especially if the fretwork is good.

I always liked the look of Peavey basses.

Those flame boots have GOT to go though.

As everybody has said before (and yet only one has spelled the verb correctly), practice, practice, practice. It'll come back to you. Just keep at it.

hows your technique, have a check, make sure your thumb is at the back of the neck, your fingers are a 90 degree angle to the fretboard and you are playing with the pads of your fingers without your palm touching the neck. (Should be a nice health C shape going on here)
and check you aren't raking
