So, my band finally has our first song up. It's kind of a rough version, but it's much better than nothing. For those wondering, my recording setup for this song was my bass, a Spector Legend 5, run through a rather old Yamaha head and 1x15 cab my school has, and mic'd from there.
Comments are appreciated.

Eh. To be honest sounds like any other emo/screamo/scene/whatever you kids call yourselves these days.
It might be ok live, but not my cup of tea on recording.

Um, not really my thing either with the screaming. I really dug the song except for that. The singer and guitarist seemed to work together well. My washer and dryer are going behind me so I can't really comment on bass. :)

Luke: I agree, this song isn't really anything groundbreaking, and it was the second song we wrote together. And yeah, it does sound better live. I'm trying to get ahold of a live video my friend has of it from our first show. All in all, I'm happy with the recording though.
GoldfingerSpokesman: I can understand not digging the screaming. It seems to be kind of an acquired taste. Thanks for the input, though :thumb:

keep in mind im pretty biased against this type of music, but the vocals seem kinda...overdone almost. im only judging the vocals cause the rest of it was a bit hard to make out. screamo bands usually have good live preformances though, id like to see a vid.

The vocals really overpowered the rest of the song in the mix.
As for the song, The guitar work was alright.
The singing was just awful. Sorry.

The vocals sound too well done compared to the rest of the recording, so it completely kills the recording. You need to turn up the rest of the tracks, or you should turn down the vocals.

Yeah, I know the mixing isn't that great, we only had one class to work on that. This song is more of a demo than anything. We spent a lot of time EQing the vocals, as there were so many vocal tracks used in this song and we wanted our lead singer Greg's vocals to sound more or less equal as far as levels go. I know the guitar needs to be turned up, too. We'll probably spend more time in the studio getting it sounding better.
