hey guys, I basically know nothing about bass amps but have been looking at different used ones for a while now and found one that to me seems like a great deal, so I wanted to see what you people thought. Keep in mind I've been playing bass for two years and the only amp ive ever had is a god awful fender rumble 15 that came with my squier, so im not looking for top of the line equipment.

Its a Peavey Mark IV 300 Watt 2 Channel Head with Ashdown 4x10 cabinet for $300. With the research i've done, the peavey head is this 20 year old model, but seems to be reliable and durable. It is unclear exactly what model the cab is but it looks identical to the MAG410T model.

thats the website with pics and all that great stuff.

If i were to go ahead and purchase it I would go and pick it up myself, so I could make sure it works and all that so that wouldn't be an issue. Do other people think this is a bargain? I just don't my lack of knowledge to lead me to a poor decision, thanks in advance.

$300 seems awfully cheap for a stack. I'd be a little cautious with that price.

The cab alone is 300 new, and i'm not sure about the head. You said you could try it before you bought it so thats a plus, and as long as there's nothing wrong with it I say jump on it.

Shoot, jump on that. Like you said, just go and try it out first, make sure everything works, etc.

if it all works bite the guys arm off, that is an awesome rig, old peaveys are meant to be awesome and built like tanks (almost as nice as my old Trace :P)

Yeah, I have an old Peavey Series-400, and that thing is built to last.
