Eh... if you haven't at some point, I actually reccomend taking a break from drumming every once in a while.
Taking a week or two off gives your mind time to cycle through what you've been sending it and just generally reset itself. For example: I was having trouble with my left foot doubles. After I returned from Brazil over Christmas, it took about another minute of practice before I got them to where I was aiming for (and struggling) before Christmas.
Don't overexert your mind, give it a break just like your wrists (and, speaking of wrists, watch for tendonitis :p ).

I don't ge tit poopoo...
I usually play about half an hour a day and then up to 2 hours with guitarists and things like that so i don't think that it will be very beneficial to my drumming to take a break since i don't overplay as it is.
Great insight!

poopoo - meh to you I say. Meh to the you. For some people, practicing something until their arms drop off is the way to go... not for everyone (such as me).
fishy - props to you ^_^
I suppose I should make it clear: taking a break isn't all that appropriate every few months. Maybe once a year or so, however. Twice tops.

Dude Tendonitis is from extreme overuse or extension of your tendons. And usually a very hard hit causes it.

I agree completely, crazyguy. It helps not only renew your mind, but also your body. I know my arms/legs feel at least bit tired all the time. My ears need breaks, too.
Good post.
