I'm finally getting a new Hi Hat stand (my 12 year old Cannon is wearing out) and since I live in an area without a good music dealer, I won't be able to try them out. I believe I've narrowed my choices down to:
Yamaha HS 1000
Pearl H2000 Eliminator
Both are 2 legged models, double braced, and are similarly priced. Opinions on these models? Any other comparable 2 legged models I should consider? I want to stay in the $150 range. Thanks!

Yammie.
I didn't like the elim at all when i tried it.

I'd say yammy, though I'd recommend the Tama Lever Glide.
Have you check pedal to pedal stuff? Or is that an issue?
That was one of the bigger reasons I went with the Tama, cause it snugged up against my kick pedals the best.
The other reason I like it is it has a acclerated cam action, like the kick pedals. I do a lotof hi-hat stuff, the extra throw/sensitivity is really nice.

I'm not too worried about my kick pedals....just having the two legged model will be a huge improvement. Mine is a 3 legged that doesn't even rotate. I'll look into the Tama as well then. Other opinions?

Go for the Yamaha, but get the HS1100 and not the 1000.
Direct drive seems odd for a hihat stand, but once you try it you will be in love. It makes dynamics possible, splashes easy, everything just feels great.
Massmusic has the 1000 for 130 and the 1100 for 135, I think.
Not to mention their shipping is now only 5 dollars.

The 1100 looks kind of bulky? Maybe I'll have to take a drive to St. Louis......

DirectDrive was normal for a long time on hats. You can play anything on any setup. Acceleratd caming actions provide great improvement for the feet however, hence they are so popular with kick pedals.
Bill, just a thought. BigDog pedals seem pretty solid. We don't seem to have them around here on the west coast. However, if I needed a new hi-hat stand I'd prob look into those just cause they look like identical copies to IC's, but cheaper.

Thought about Big Dog, but can't seem to find a US dealer. Anyone know?

I have the pro big dog and its good and all but its not as smooth as i would like!
Id say get the bulky yamaha and not have to worry about it being to small or not bulky enough.
Get the big mother****er!

I'd reinforce Josiah on the Tama Lever Glide. I decided to get one recently (partly on his advice) and it's absolutely great. So smooth and sturdy.

I would look really into which one fits more comfortable next to any additional pedals you may have. And I'd buy a two legged hi-hat stand. Never know just how many pedals you'll have on your left foot.

You can rotate the two legs on the tama if that helps your pedal situation.

Glad to hear that.
I think most pedals/hi-hat stands can be smoothed out more by a good cleaning and oiling/greasing.

Apart from the one my friend had for definate!
It scweeked every time you pressed it, it was single braced, didnt have any features on it atall and you virtually had to jump on it to get it to go down!

God, i hate it when people say Big dog is just cheap Iron cobra stuff.
It's completely different.
Like Josiah and prophet, I'd suggest the IC though. Very Smooth, Very Durable, Very Very Adjustable.

No mention of a DW5000? Probably not the best, but it's sturdy, solid, and depending on the model, $100 or $120.

Yamaha FTW. Their pedals are the same hardware as their motorcycles. DirectDrive ain't bad, and neither is Double Chain, so choose wisely.

Janus Ergo

Speaks for itself. Solid, Works great, and you have the capability of adjusting the angle. You can even take off the legs and clamp it onto a stand or whatnot. Quality stuff.
Retail Price: $229.99, and $179.99 without the tilt (Notice: These are retail prices.)
EDIT: I dont think you can go wrong with any of the stands mentioned. Theyre all good and will last quite a long time.

Looks solid as hell, actually. Looks like it'd work well in a tight setup with lotsa stands absolutely everywhere.
That Janus... as a general rule of thumb I prefer to stay away from Janus hardware. Too many stories about their pedals failing for me to trust em. (haha, you could say the same about DW yes... but I like DW's stuff more than Janus)

Who knows. I've had my janus double pedals for quite a while now. I can see a problem with the trans-pedal with all the mechanics, but I dont see any problems with mine.

We are officially hihat stand brothers.
And we both bought them from the same place.
But I ordered mine on Monday.

You can't beat that price, especially with the low shipping. Has yours shipped yet?

Not sure, I wrote down the little tracking code thing but I forget where I put it.
I was quite pleased when I found out shipping was 4.99. When I ordered a bass pedal and snare stand from them, it was about 20.

Hey, Bill
I know you said you wanted it in the 150.00 price range, but I must urge you into looking at the DW9500 hi hat stand. If you can afford to spare the extra 50 or so dollars, it is well worth it. Easily the best stand I have ever owned/played on. So smooth and adjustable, and super sturdy. I have a pet peeve for wobbly and inconsistant stands, and this really soothes me.

Appreciate it Gary, but I already ordered the Yammie. I'm sure the DW is great, but I really wanted to stay under $150. Thanks man....good to have you around!
