Hello.
Ok so my band got our first proper track down. Just would like some constructive criticism of the drumming or the song. I am not going to make any excuses :)

Enjoy (I hope) :)

not bad, i quite like it.
'Hero Has Come' sounds like a Muse song at the start.
good stuff.

in my opinion, that was weak.
it was just simple drumming, a basic beat pretty much throughout both songs.
could have been better.
in the first song, i thought the drums were way to soft, and thats probably the recording. they definately should have been a tad louder. the drums were just so simple and repeditive. and you could have been a lot more original and creative. like during that puase in the music, you could have done more than hit your bass drum twice.
in the second song, i just think that whole song was really boring. the volume for you was much better though. now, your doubles/buzzes (i couldn't tell because some were buzzes and some were doubles, and even some triples thrown in there) were very inconsistant. and there were a few timing issues.
overall, i didn't like it. the first song i thought you could have been more creative. but in the second song, i did like your choice, it fit the song well, but you have to smooth out the edges a bit more.

That is not me drumming on fight fire with fire :P
Thanks for the input guys. Sorry it was posted in the wrong place. :)
I'll take comments into account. I know I need to be more creative but I'd rather keep beat than faf about and try something I wouldn't be able to pull off. I think with practice I could improve it a lot. :chug:

Yeah, the drums definitely needed to be louder. You played nicely to the song though, nothing wrong with that but I think the whole band needed more energy. Like, you were all playing and playing it right but there was no feel.
At the end of the song (in the kinda pre-outro bit) there seemed to be a tightness/timing issue going on, dunno whether it was you or the guitarist tbh.
How long you been playing dude?
P.S Your singer is HOT. Very hott. If I was single and lived nearer I'd be on her in an instant! My advice: make your move on her dude before its too late!!!!

Keep it in your pants Chipple.......lol. I agree with her hotness, however I don't find her to be much of a singer, sorry.
Drums definitely need to be higher in the mix. Solid, if simple, playing. And that's OK. Stay within yourself when recording. As you practice, rehearse, and write songs together, you should strive to improve your abilities and creativity.

I felt the drums were too far back in the song to be of valuable significance. I think you need to increase the volume of the drums, bring them more forward and try to make them the backbone of the song. Also the drums themselves sounded quite weak, not as far as the playing goes, more as the drums themselves are. I would recommend maybe G1's over G2's to give that extra kick and drive to the song.
I personally prefer more heavier music, I like something with a little ''bite'' to it, so its possibly me trying to change your music to suit my taste. I think you guys definatly have potential and clearly have some skill there. In my opinion the advice above as far as the drumming goes would better the song, and your band.
If I was in a pub and you were playing, it would be background music. Try to catch that drive in the song, make peoples mouths open!

It works, that's all I'll say.
I will agree in that you should do more than the two bass hits in the brief pause in Hero, however. Besides that... it works.

Any suggestions?
I can understand where people are coming from it's just I am not really sure what will fit with the song. I could do a short tom fill I guess... hmm..

That's what happens when you concentrate on keeping time creativity flies out the window well for me anyway. :)

not like amazing in any way, but i like how you didnt try to play above your ability and completely make a fool of yourself.

Don't worry, man, creativity with keeping time comes natural. Well, time at least will come natural eventually.

You remind me of a band named "Metric" if you've ever heard of them.
fight Fire with fire... that's the title of a metallica song :D.
And your singer is totally hot.
A couple suggestions:
When the guitars build to a climax in the intro to "hero has come" try doign a crescendo on the floor tom and snare. It's a classic drum lick. Sounds good though.
Also, you know during the verse, you might want to try doing doubles on the snare and bass. It'll follow the guitars better (imo, ofcourse).
One last thing, instead of playing 16th notes on the ride, try riding your crash with 8th notes during the chorus.

I actually quite like double on the bass during the pause. It could be more hard hitting though. A little more "epic" if you know what I mean.
Following the same kinda idea as the double on the bass, try something like:
t|------------o--|
S|--------f------|
F|------------o--|
B|----------o---o|
.|1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +
Try that, play around with it and you'll have a cool little break :thumb:

Hey, that band's not half bad!
I just wish her voice was more powerful. I think a soul singer would be awesome in that role.

Who cares?
She's mega hot!
She actually is hot, thats why she's sweating so much. I agree with rohbit though, a soul singer would really kick a$$ as the Gossip front woman. In that vid she sounds like she's doing some drunk karaoke.

I enjoyed both songs, and I wish to make sex upon your singer...many a sex..hook me up!
Um do you own any crash cymbals lol? I kinda felt like both songs, were just missing a kinda dramatic crash here or there lol And personally I am against the 8th note crassh riding Rohbit suggested above, its so done (unless your really like the kinda epic half time thing) each to thier own . Some work with dynmics (build ups etc) is always intresting
She's not really very attractive. :-/
Yah she is.
And the sound is...well...crap. The guitars sound digital, the drums are in the background, the only things that are distinct are the vox and bass.
