Hi, I'm looking to remove the bass drum mounting system from my Mapex Orion Bass Drum. How would I go about purchasing four gold plated lugs?

Hm...I might actually do that when my kit comes. Just as a spare incase I feel the need to remove the tom mounts from the bass drum to give it the virgin look... Hopefully if i mention the fact that it's a Will Calhoun Clinic kit, they'll kick up the customer service!

Just as a note , if your removing the mounting system on top of the bass drum why do you need lugs? Can we see some pics dude?
Drum Phil

The mount is attatched to the lugs. Dont think you can remove it without losing the lugs.

Mapex have their kits (all the way up to their pro series kits) mounted on the bass drum lugs, so as to avoid
1) big pole penetrating the bass drum
2) minimise number of screws in bass drum - even the bass drum legs are lug mounted.
I wanted to remove this mounting. And I figures it would look better without the railings (which I think I could leave on and still remove the mounting, but not sure).

The legs are lug mounted? Interesting.
There's less screws in an Orion bass than near any other commercial pro brand bass
because mapex's customer service blow tama out the water.
In Australia they are both great to deal with. A genralization across the board is unfair and innacurate.

The M birch mounting goes through the shell.
Doesnt stop it from sounding great though.
The M birch mounting goes through the shell.
This is only true for the bass drum legs and tom holder (which Im guessing is what you're referring to) Then again, it is also the case with Sonor SQ2, so I doubt it'd negatively affect the sound a great deal.
The tom holder system on the M is isolated and attaches to the tom shell's lugs (which themselves screw into the shell) so the only screws that can be seen inside the shell are those of the lugs. In that regard, its probably safe to say that the tom mounting system IS isolated.

Thats some great customer service man. It worked out well for them too. They are getting publicity on here about their customer service. I can also probably tell you the next kit you buy will be a Mapex. Not only becuse of this but im sure it would help.
