So yea, when I got home, I found a box on the floor with this in it.

I just plugged it in and left it flat, made my spector wit the dead battery sound awesome. Bitchin' tone going through my Mesa 2x15 and Goliath II. I spead too much money on gear. :D

yep it does. And it has such hotter signal than the other pre-amp. I just tried having a wet/dry signal chain with the ampeg dry and the BBE wet, ampeg blew the hell out of it volume wise.

Grrr! Dave Matthews is the shiznit! What? I'm hijacking the thread as requested! Anywhose, I don't get all the techie side of bass, but that thing looks nice and it has a lot of buttons and knobs which is always a bonus!

In time you will learn, more knobs and buttons=better! Even if a rack has a "blow up my bass" button along with 100 other buttons, and one has "turn my bass into an amazing piece of equipment" with no other buttons, the one with 100 buttons is automatically better!

i live in a student flat in halls of residence so if i come back to find anything in a box it aint a preamp. it is prob moulding and furry though

I'm not slow. I understood why you quoted it. I actually was thinking about that song when I read the posts above it. But my point still stands.

it only hisses when I get close to it, like 2 inches away. The tubes are broken in enough for me right now.

I'm not sure how old the BBE is. I bought it off a guy from TB (also bought the ampeg from TB). I know it pre-dates the T-Max. It's decent. It takes awhile for it to "warm up?" and the only time I can really get a tone I like is when I have the punch, the compressor and the sonic maximizer on, and the EQ doesn't work that great. Not bad for $75 bucks though. I use it as my wet signal right now and will probably use it as a make shift vocal preamp since it has a compressor and the maximizer.
